Hello folks.

I've long since sold my original Caterham hood and use a half hood when the weather calls for it. I'm thinking of doing the odd bit of work on the car and also I'm doing a eBay 'get rid of unwanted items' sale. Can you remove the hood sticks and run the same boot cover, or does it start to look a bit silly?

I've heard that you can get different boot covers as not all of the cars come with hood sticks, but I guess in doing this I'll loose an inch of height in the boot? Sounds silly but I use my boot!

I didn't remove mine because the boot cover went all saggy

Really? My boot cover is quite taut and I couldn't see that removing the sticks would make a blind bit of difference - it's not as if they stand proud and hold the cover up.

Ginge - try it and see.

Think I'll have to, just hoped that someone who'd joined the areo screen fold, just a minute CW7...I've got an idea.

Try using foam pipe insulation slit on one side to help pack the boot cover up (and next to no weight penalty biggrin). You only need the thin 1" stuff

They do hold the edge of the cover up as they rest on the top of the chassis rail/boot panel and the boot cover is pulled taut over them.

SBFS do a boot cover that is designed for life after the removal of hood sticks.

I fitted another row of poppers and don't think it looks too bad.
