caterham halfdoors

Just got a set of half doors for the caterham, and before I start to drill holes for the pushbuttons on them, I would like to make something sure.
The pushbutton which goes on the front and rear of the top needs to go through one layer of vinyl a thin steel reinforcement, and through another layer of vinyl. Looking at the button which needs to hold the socket in place, the stud looks to small to cover the mentioned layers of material.

Any knowledge on this??

I took out the aluminium strip and punched in the poppers. Been fine without it. It's not liek it's going to give you much side impact protection
