Just wondered the best place to buy a half hood.

Soft bits for sevens ?

Or what about those advertised on ebay ? Cheap imitations maybe ?

Thanks

Thanks for the replies.

Decided to go with the ebay one . Trying to curb the upgrade spending , so for a change gone for the cheaper option.
I'd thought I'd gotten away with hiding some of the recent purchases for the car from "the other half", but alas been caught out. So that's cost me an ipad as repayment to her also !

Interesting - hadn't seen these Ebay alternatives and they're a good bit cheaper than the SBFS items.

I'm not bothered about stripes, colour-coding and stuff like that - I just want something to keep the rain off.

You're lucky mate, I had to explain away an almost rolling chassis a few months back!
"Oh by the way Dear, I've been building this for the last 4 years"!
Fortunately, by a strange quirk of fate, my wedding tackle was saved by the fact she was feeling guilty about flogging a 4 thousand quid 1.somthing carrat diamond ring I'd bought her a few years back that she never wore, and found it the perfect oppurtunity to come clean. Bloody good deal I thpought! rofl Happy days and a good investment I say. wink

Think yourself lucky, a mate of mine used the 'wrong' credit card and his wife felt obliged to query a £3k bill, she got a further shock when he admitted that was just a 25% deposit!!!

Always apply the 10% rule. Admit to everything you buy but tell her it cost 10% of the actual cost.

She asked me how much this was costing recently http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
Caught me off guard a bit, so I said "Ooh I haven't worked out the hours yet"
"You don't want to tell me" she says, "Erm, noooo not yet"
I got picture and no sound for a while, but she gets over it. wink
I recently threw a surprise 40th Birthday bash for her, so I think that's used up all those brownie points! rolleyes

Hi,

I have a brand new SBFS classic half hood to fit an S3 car with a standard roll bar if you are interested. I bought it on behalf of someone else but its surplus to requirements. I'm after what it cost me which is £105 plus postage.

Some great replies that have made me chuckle.

I think every petrolhead can relate to some of the stories here.
I have never considered myself a liar. But faced with some awkward situations regarding packages arriving on the doorstep, and money mysteriously vanishing from accounts I have been known to bend the truth sometimes.

Thanks for the offer T, but ebay cover ordered and on it's way.
I am sure someone will take it off your hands at that price

Cheers

Never understood why you have to explain spending your money to the other half. I just get rid of them if they disagree with me.

Tried that as well, but it's a lot more costly.

I can see from your post that you have never been divorced Smollet ?

Difficult to be divorced when I've never been married. Perhaps that's the secret to my continued happiness and general well-beingbiggrin
