One of an occasional series of stupid questions:

Just bought a new starter, bought some exhaust wrap too, and fancy keeping this one safe from drying the connections out etc - if you could show us how you've wrapped/protected your starters to protect them from the K click, I'd appreciate it.

Depends which kind of k-click you have got. If you have the MFRU related one then you can do the relay trick up there. Wrapping a starter is not reputed to solve much.

If it's a hot start click, then a new starter will be only a temporary cure. Spend a tenner on fitting a relay.

Tried the relay mod, and lots of other things besides. Trying a Bosch starter and think protecting it from heat would definitely be a good thing!

I wrapped mine in 2 plumbing solder mats. That does remind me, I do need to buy a new one!

Me too, didn't solve my version of the problem.
