Hi,

Just wondered if anyone could point me in the right directions for instructions on removal and re-fit of diff on a 2002 Academy car ?
Have tried the search function here with no success, and also on Blatchat, ( googled it as well ) but maybe I missed one somewhere.

Just trying to get info for winter project in changing over to an LSD maybe. As you can tell I'm not that mechanically experienced , but want to learn and give jobs like these a go.

Cheers in advance

I hope you don't mind me coming into this thread. I'm planning to do the same this winter as my original diff is awful.

Do you mind sending me a copy as well please mickrick?

I built my car, so I know how to get the diff in, I just can't decide how much of the rear suspension I need to remove to get it out smile

Loosen wheel nuts, up on the axle stands, handbrake on, undo prop shaft bolts, hand brake off, off with the wheels, off with the calipers too and hang them off the springs, remove both bearing carriers and slide the shafts through the dedion ears. Boot floor out and fit a strap around the diff and take the strain with your engine hoist. Remove the two lower bolts and the nut from the top bolt, the diff it now only supported by long top bolt. Working from in the boot drive the top bolt out while supporting the diff with hoist. The diff will need twisting 9 deg and then lower it down. Wipe 1 litre of oil off the garage floor

Takes about 1.5 hours on your own or 1 hour with a mate.

Knew I had forgot something.. A frame needs dropping from the rear fixing on the DD tube if the car is high enough for it to hang almost vertical, if not then it will need removing. No need to touch the Dedion tube cool
