Hmmm, sump drained and filter off. But the Apollo tank plug is putting up one hell of a fight. Tried a bit of de-greaser and a tap with a mallet, but it still doesn't want to play. Not some sort of reverse-thread or something daft is it?

On the one hand it holds a fair bit of oil which I want out and also the plug is magnetic so I want to look for sparklies.

On the other, I'm damn scared of giving it too much welly and ballsing things up. (I have a track day this weekend).

Considering just leaving it for now, accept I've only done half an oil change and sorting over the winter when I have more time.

Thoughts?

Can you suck it out from the top? I apreciate you won't see what's on the magnetic drain plug, but at least you'll have clean oil.
I use a 6 ltr. one of these for working on boats. They're brilliant!

I also use the same sucker as Mick wink I use it for the dry sump tank and also the diff. Brilliant piece of kit and I'd be stuck without one.

Did you note how much oil came out when you drained the sump? I found that most of the Apollo tank drained out once the filter was removed.

The tank is only thin aluminium so be careful applying force - I have found that sticking a fan heater under the car for 10 mins aimed at whatever is stuck can help. It has worked for the Apollo tank, gearbox filler and bearing removal in the past.
