Does anyone have a picture of how this is fitted to the Duratec? I planned to fit one as my oil temp struggles to get up to temp with the Scottish weather. The one I've got is the Ford item and I naively thought it was a like a sandwich plate for the oil filter. It seems there may be more to it!

Search on Google Images or equivalent for "Cosworth Duratec" for pictures of one installed, as Cosworth supply these as standard on their Duratec engines. Or go look at a CSR if you can. There are sandwich types of Modine oil/coolant heat exchangers available, but the one typically used on a Duratec is not that type. It is one that has a casting that bolts to the lower left side of the block, with the Modine "donut" heat exchanger on top and the oil filter on the bottom. The parts themselves look like this (oil filter not shown):jturrell - The Modine is a oil/coolant heat exchanger, similar to a Laminova. The heat transfers from whichever is hotter, oil or coolant, to the cooler of the two. So it works as an oil heater shortly after start up, and as an oil cooler under hard running. The best of both worlds, really.

Thanks - that picture is perfect. I've now found out Cosworth do a kit but unfortunately made a purchased direct from Caterham but that was not a kit and I have no casting
As said above, I really wanted it as an oil temperature 'conditioner' rather than a cooler. The cooler that is fitted works fine but is just a bit to powerful during the colder weather. I was thinking about a thermostat but this might be a better solution.
I was going to leave the conventional cooler in the scavenge side and get the best of both worlds. I would be interested in any comments regarding problems doing this.

I put a CSR260 motor into an S3 chassis.
The Modine set-up as supplied would not fit, as it squarely interfered with the chassis rail on the left-had side of the car. I replaced the supplied one in the photo above with the Raceline horizontal oil filter mount (I call it "horizont-oil" ) and a sandwich-type Modine, along with a slightly shorter oil filter. It looks like this, except the Modine is rotated about 120° CCW from what is shown once assembly was completed and this is the longer oil filter:
Works well so far.

Thanks BBL-Sean, this is great stuff and probably saving me a great deal of time and money. I should have said mine is a metric S3 chassis so it doesn't have that diagonal bracing tube. Hopefully I'll be able to use the 'vertical setup - if not I might just copy what you've done.
