I'm day dreaming about a wheel change due to upgrade-itis.

Gold wheel thoughts?

I have to say silver would match the car better in my opinion, but it's your car so go for it biggrin

Here is another car with gold panasport wheels to help visualize if it would work.

I think this looks better because the car is entirely BRG.

I say go for it!!!

I love the idea of gold wheels. I have a red Seven so I think the gold suits it perfectly (Gold leaf Lotus colours and all that). I also think gold looks grand on green too.

I have just got my fully refurbished wheels back and am very happy with them.

Sneak preview before I get them on the car.

MB's Mmm

Oh, Oh! Crickey! I'm off to the bathroom with a box of tissues!!!
Unfourtunately I've had to give up on Mike. frown
Another victim of his own success I think?
Spoke to him on the phone, and he said I was a nuisance!
I had to go elsewhere, and I think I may have a result. If the fellow doesn't mind, and everything comes up to expectations, I'll post the results on my "Nuvite II" thread. wink
But very very nice SS! smile

I think it would suit the car well. Go for it OP, the worst that can happen is you take 'em back off and flog them on.

mickrick,

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good experience with Mike B. Couldn't have been more differnt for me. I spoke to him a number of times before buying wheels and even in the end I bought wheels second hand through the club, sent them to Mike and he refurb'ed with new rims all round and the gold finish all within two weeks. Nothing but a pleasurable experience...well apart from coming to pay. Ouch. Worth it though I think.

Thanks for the compliments and enjoy the pic. Try not to make too much of a mess eh wink

Nice enough bloke to talk to. But I needed alloy centres, not magnesium, as my car is road use, and my location means getting them crack tested every year would be a nightmare.
He was supposed to be getting a batch cast up, but I don't know how long I'm supposed to wait...
He doesn't answer e-mails either.
So when an oppurtunity arose to get some billet cetres made up with rims that would package my brake setup, what should I do?

Shame about the ali centres - think he had a set when I first enquired before deciding that mag centres will be fine.
I had the same thoughts about the need to crack test but to be honest I accept his word when he says it was probably down to a bad casting on a small batch early in production that has been rectified and there have not been any reports of cracking that I have heard in more recent years. They changed the spoke thickness too a little after to help combat. My car, as I guess yours too, will not get abused so don't think there will be any compromise in safety/integrity. Just need to make sure the magnesium doens't get exposued to the air. I won't be crack testing mine each year that is for sure. That is just for racers and I am a road use only polisher!

Sounds like you have a suitable alternative but if there is anything I can do to help let me know.

Oh and yeah and hopeless on email but I accept that.

Cheers

Thanks for the offer of help. smile I think I'm sorted now though. They're paid for, and all the little details sorted, (The fellow jumped through hoops to come up with solutions for my not so standard setup!) so all I have to do now is wait. tumbleweed

Mike was clumping around looking for some Alloy Centers while I was talking to him on the phone. He had two, I needed five.
I think it's turned out for the better though, as I like the look of anodised billet! Maybe it was meant to be?

Cheers,
Mick. smile

Hi Mick,

Cool, glad you've got a solution in hand then. I've been watching your Nuvite II thread with interest and anticipation at seeing the final result. Looks just bl00dy awesome at the moment. Reminds me of Sugino's Seven. Sure you saw that?!

twobone - sorry for the hijack on your post but think you can safely assume we applaud your desire for gold wheels!

Cheers

Sorry guys, if you want GOLD, then the 7 that used to belong to Peter & Rosina Griffiths (now sadly moved abroad and car sold on) had the prize for that one (excuse the poor photo, it was the only one I could get my hands on quickly).

Rims, headlights, rear wing protectors, windscreen surround and much more were genuine Gold plated ;-)

(The benefit of having lived in the Middle East, with a friend's business gold plating things like Mosque roofs as I recall).

Michael.
