My car passed it's MOT today! Just really posting as it is one of the early Duratec cars and there's probably a few owners out there that are wondering about emissions. The car has a roller barrel upgrade with the Caterham map and has done about 7,000 miles, mostly flat out on the track.

CO fast idle 0.00%
CO natural idle 0.00%
HC level 83ppm
Lambda 1.02

Feeling rather relieved!

Hi David,

Did it need the cat on to pass? Can't remember if you were running a bypass or not.

It had the cat fitted, but I don't think it was doing much. The same garage checked it without the cat when the car was brand new and it was within MOT standards then too.

I had my 1st MOT a couple of months ago (R400D with standard plenum and CC standard map). 10000 miles, all road use. I needed to fit the cat to pass, but only just. With the cat fitted my readings were:

CO 0.002
HC 35
Lambda 1.024
CO 0.001 (natural idle)

Some of the first R400D cars were issued with "development" ECU's with the lambda sensor disabled so your statement was pretty close to the truth!
