Does anyone have any experience of running a crossflow on fuel injection. I am looking at a car for sale at the moment that has been converted. It looks like a throttle body arrangement is in place. But I don't know much more than that.

Apparently the fuel injection improves drivability? Anyone got any experience of this type of set up?

Graham.

Hi, There was a Kit, weber-alpha! (i think!)some years ago with ecu etc.
better mpg & more reliable than the standard carb set up
who fitted it & was it set up on a dyno or at least a rolling road?
Cheers, Phil

A friend of mine , Richard Green ran his crossflow on injection. The major changes in tractability came from 3D mapping of the ignition timing as this greatly reduced the 'off-cam' feeling and gave far better part throttle response and economy. Injection improved idle, progression and starting and also rid the car of the smell of fuel.

You can fit Jenvey DCOE style bodies in place of Webers on a Weber Manifold. It can be triggered from a distriubutor or a crank trigger wheel.

Thanks for the replies, I guess a drive in the car is the best way to find out for myself. I am all up for drivability, but I would love for the inherent character and sound of the crossflow to retained. If it improves reliability and fuel consumption, that would be a bonus.

Dave, was it Richard Green who used to sprint in the CCC championship about 15 years ago? I remember an injected crossflow back then.

Must have cost a lot, but I would not expect it to influence 2nd hand value much, if at all.
