Lotus 7 USA 2005 Tour: How the West Was Driven

75 cars set to wind their way around the USA

A tour of Lotus/Caterham 7's in the USA has now attracted over 75 entries, many of them from outside of America. USA 2005 has over 75 Sevens registered from the UK, Ireland, Wales, Germany, Sweden, Northern Island, Dubai, Channel Islands, Luxembourg, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, Netherlands, USA and Canada, all travelling to the USA in Autumn 2005 to participate in the three week journey across the USA.

Starting in Houston, Texas, the cars will wind their way through locations such as Austin Texas, Sante Fe New Mexico, Vail Colorado, Lake Tahoe, Yosemite to finish the gruelling trip in San Francisco, California. “This group will be visiting many scenic and historical locations” commented organiser Steve Blair. He continued “This is the dream of many owners the world over to take their Sevens and enjoy the best of America’s huge road network ”.

In support of this great journey, the Caterham factory have volunteered factory backup for all Caterham Sevens entering the tour. “We are proud to be able to provide the ultimate in backup for our customers, by providing a support vehicle for the Caterham participants, said Simon Nearn, Caterham’s Managing Director.

I wish Porsche would do something similar, in terms of backup at a sensible price

This is a completely owner run event, gaining sponsors as it grows. Benefitting by and for the owners of Se7ens type cars in spirit with Colin Chapman's original Lotus 7.

If you or your company are interested in sponsoring things for the event, please contact me off list to discuss.

There is an email list for se7ens owners called Tour7, started in 99 by several se7en owners that does touring events all over the place. The group has toured all over UK, Ireland, Scotland, Nordics, and Europe in the last 5 years.

With USA 2005, it shows the strength, and alliance that the se7ens owners have in wanting to have fun, go places, and give back as good as they give to others.

And it's going to be a BLAST to do next year
