How easy to change the final drive?
Discussion
As above take it to Road and Race. They will swap the crown wheel and pinion to change the ratio and it is worth having seals and bearings replaced while it's out - R&R will advise what is needed.
FYI, 3.92 CW&P are becoming hard to find now so either hang on to it or sell it - a sprinter somewhere will want it.
Personally I would stick with it - the extra few hundred RPM is a small sacrifice for the better acceleration the 3.92 gives. Get some ear plugs . I changed from 3.62 to 3.92 a couple of years ago.

Thanks chaps, food for thought.
Shaun, you make a good point. Current combination of 6spd box / 3.92 / 185/60/13 wheels/tyres makes mine a very short geared car (possibly too short IMO).
Due ew tyres soon, so thinking about 205/60/13 on the rear for a bit more top end. We'll see. As you say though, acceleration is fantastic!

Mixed feelings about ratio swap having had a good blat yesterday evening.
The car is far more comfortable to drive on the road now though it has lost some of the feeling that it could pull from low speeds in the higher gears, naturally found myself driving in 3rd and 4th most of the time!
It is a better set up for the road in my opinion though probably not as much fun
Having had a BEC as my last (& first) 7 (blackbird Caterham) I really miss the sequential box and quick shifting (as well as the lighter feeling of the car and the 11000rpm noise of course!) and the 3.92 diff probably helped the transition as shifting through the gears had to be really quick, I guess the obvious answer now is to add more power!!!!
Would I do it again (change diffs that is) probably yes! Would I swap my BEC for a K series if I could wind the clock back a few months? Probably not, wish I'd spent the extra money on the nova gear, set now
