It is with reluctance I need to sell my R300. I've only owned it for just over a year and enjoyed it all. Highlights I guess have been picking it up on a perfectly clear March day and pulling along side another Caterham at a set of lights on my way home with just nods exchanged before the lights changed. A day at Castle Combe getting familiar with the cars amazing handling. A trip to the Alps via the Nurbergring and even spinning it at the Ring in the wet. Meeting up for the Graham Nearn memorial blat pulling into a car park at CC South filled only with sevens. And of course enjoying my favorite local roads. I hope I will be able to build my own car in a few years but financal reasons now mean I need to sell.
So, before I have to hand the keys over to someone else, I want one last blast. I think I can manage 3 maybe 4 days but my starting point is Basingstoke. My question is where would you head for one last drive if you were in my position?

I'd probably exhaust myself trying to cover all the roads of Cornwall or Wales starting from where you are.
Hope you can get one back sooner or later. Having problems with mine for a years time now. I can tell it's hard!

Callum thats a shame you have to sell... as yours was one of the first 7s i sat in i can say its a beautiful car. Also showed me what its like in the wet with cold tyres! smile

If it was me i would head into Europe for one almighty blat, or head up to west coast of Scotland, but as i found out you risk the wrath of the weather in Scotland. It is simply a stunning area (we did Lairg-Tongue-Ullapool) with some breathtaking views/roads, even if it does rain.

Good luck with it all, and thanks for the advice you have in helping me pick mine!

Last minute trip to Le Mans? You wanted to go tomorrow right?

Last minute trip to the Nurburgring 24 hours? If you must have a whole weeks notice.

In country - southern counties to Devon/Cornwall, then up the west coast into Wales, through Wales to Snowdonia, half day North Wales and A roads home. I think 200 miles hard driving a day is the max before you're ruined tired and consecutive days become hard and less enjoyable.

Shame, but enjoy.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I would like to head to Europe but realistically I think I'll stay in the UK. Maybe head South West direction depending on if I get 3 or 4 days, before heading into South Wales the Brecon Beacons and the Black mountains. Then head up through Wales to Snowdonia and the Llanberis Pass / Evo triangle. Hopefully then heading over to the Peaks, the Cat and Fiddle / Snake Pass. Not sure of a route home but will see what else I can find... Anything else I should try and fit in?

While you're in North Wales, can I suggest the A4212 and B4391, westbound from Bala - best Caterham roads in my experience! Also, just near you, the B4494/A338/B4000 triangle between Newbury and Wantage. If it's traffic-free, it's tremendous...

you could always join us for 1 days madness - 16th July 6 of us from SKCC are heading down from Kent/Sussex/Surrey to Lands End for teh longest Brekkie Run that we've ever done. Down there for 10.00 and back later that afternoon.
oh and if you do the Peaks i have a route if it would be of help that starts in Holmfirth and ends near Asbourne - we used it as part of our earlier road trip, welcome to have the ITN for it if you want - just ping me a mail.

Definitely yes

This is part of my standard route when out for a weekend blat and it never fails to get boring and always brings a smile! I usually go early morning on the weekends and it's usually empty.

Why would you go on a route that succeeds in boring you every time? confused

A big thanks for all your ideas. I'm just back from my 3 day blast, only 1 motorway junction to cross the old Seven bridge, and 900 miles of grins. All uk based road ideas above were driven at least once on the trip (Evo triangle x 2). Highlights were too many to list but there are a few photos below that some people might recognise (Not that many photos as if it was a good road I didn't want to stop). Unfortunately it brings the time to sell ever closer.
