Dodgy holiday video
Discussion
Have just got back from a week's run around Europe with four other Caterhams from the North Warks area - tremendous company to me and my eldest son (15).
I have posted a little bit of bullet cam video on YouTube. It is my first attempt at a video, so be gentle

Did you also try the DogCam in other locations on the car as well??
Would just be nice to see the views from other perspectives!!
I am sure you guys had a great time though!!
Cheers,
Nige.
Cheers, chaps.
Nige, I put the clamp in a place that would permit me to put on the half hood without any faffing around; I didn't want to hold up the rest of the party whilst I messed about. I did plan to try out the suction clamp in the middle of the windscreen, but forgot to pack it. To clear the top of the screen whilst placed on top of the roll bar I would have needed either the 3" or 6" extension bars that DogCam sell, but again I forgot to order one before we left.
The audio on the camera is pants on a car; no doubt it would be fine when strapped to someone's head for skiing, snowboarding or cycling, but it is overwhelmed at road speed, hence the music.
The DogCam bullet is neat for occasional use, but Brad's setup, complete with screen, is definitely in a different league.

Its always fun to experiment with different points of view as you can see on some of my youtube videos on board the R500!!
I have always liked the flexibility that my VIO-POV camera gives me, and as you say the fact that my set up, just like Brads has a screen and Camera on a separate lead give a lot more choice of positioning.
Of course my unit purchased quite a few years back now is not full HD, but I have to say that 1080 HD does have one very limiting factor, the size of the files when recording.
On Brads unit we experimented with a file he saved from our PH SS Trip to Oxford, it was about 30 mins I believe, but was almost 3GB in size, which means you have to edit and compress it in some way, so that its easier to work with, and for simpler uploading to youtube etc etc.
I also like the fact that my VIO-POV Unit has a wireless remote control too, it gives flexibility to record only what and when you want, which also makes for smaller files sizes.
When I have some spare cash I may just upgrade my unit to the VIO-POV to the HD unit, as I have lots of accessories such as powerleads, extensions and mounts etc.
Looking forwards to lots more videos of your outings too!!
Overnight ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland and then a long run down to Heidelberg, where we spent two nights. Then down to Konstanz, where we spent three nights. Back up to Nancy for one night, then on to Bruges for a final night. Back to Blighty via the Chunnel.
As a touring novice I was very fortunate to have the company of four experienced Caterham touring crews; they lined up some superb roads for us.
Having five cars together helps garner attention, and we were met with a very positive reaction wherever we went. Having two Vauxhalls on carbs helps; as much as I love my standard-ish 1.8K (and we had another 1.8K on throttle bodies and a Duratec for company as well) the noise from those two was something else, especially the yellow HPC.
The entrance to Bruges was quite something; with the noise echoing off the buildings in the narrow cobbled streets it would not be much of an exaggeration to say that we caused quite a stir. My 15 year old son thought we had become in impromptu civic parade!
Given the chance I would do it all again, except I would choose to visit somewhere other than Konstanz itself; maybe spend an extra night in Nancy, whilst Bruges is definitely worthy of more attention.

I wondered whether the rear view footage at the end was Bruges(?). I took my seven there a couple of years ago staying at Martins Hotel near the main square. The underground car park was well worth it. As you found the drive into Bruges was almost embarassing with all the attention we generated. I had youngsters diving out in front of me taking pictures on their 'phones.
One of the best reactions I ever had was in Epernay during another trip. Sat in traffic this well dressed chap of around 60 approached with his wife (or could have been mistress) on the adjacent pavement. Both were well dressed. As he drew level he gave his wife a nudge and exclaimed, "C'est un Caterham", winked at us and walked on. Nice.
Makes a change from white van man over here shouting out of his window that he believes I enjoy making love to myself.

Video looks good! Wasnt sure about the music at first but actually suits the clip well
I picked up my very first 7 a few weeks ago and immediately took it up to Scotland for a 2k trip and need to do the same and put together my dodgy holiday video
I had the same issue of faffing around with mounting points, and picked one like yours. Top roll bar is a good one but your knackered when the rain comes and you have to get the hood on quickly! I had a suction clamp that work well but was too scared to put in anywhere on body work....
Im off to Bruges this weekend, so your video has come just at the right time!!

Stu, enjoy yourself. Have one of the Bruges beers that gets delivered in a round bottomed, long necked glass that is delivered on a wooden stand; not sure the glass adds anything to the flavour, but it adds to the drama
Mark, that sounds like an epic run; I hope the weather and traffic are kind - I look forward to seeing some vid and/or pics when you get back. Have a belter
