Can anyone with the new style dash with the APEM / Trillogy switches with the keyless START and STOP function (As R500D) on the starter button help me with the logic.

I understand you press the starter button first to switch on the ignition

Press again and hold to crank the engine

Press again to stop the engine.

With the engine running, and say it stalls – what does the press of the button do on a stalled engine?

Thanks

It cranks the starter again and starts the car, unless you just tap it in which case it turns the ignition off and you have to start again.

Thanks.

That confirms that it knows the engine is running or not and is not simply toggling between the functions.

I built a small controller for my CSR for the APEM switch’s that detected if the engine was running so the controller could decide on the action of the button. It drives remote relays unlike the Caterham control board - I just wanted to check that my logic wasn’t of track

Unfortunately it doesn't know that the engine is running. If you hold the button for too long while trying to shut the engine off, it'll re-engage the starter with the usual graunching noise.

So it's more like:

Short press = toggle ignition on/off
Long press = engage starter (if ignition is on, engine running or not)*
