OK, so I changed the oil filter on the remote housing that sits on top of the Front chassis rails.

The filter mounts horizontally so it leaked oil everywhere when I changed the filter.

Then once the replacement was on, I think I may have failed to properly clean the flat mating surface. Then I probably put it on too tight.

Now it leaks.

OK, now that I've done it wrong....please walk me thru the right way.

Much appreciated

If the filter is overtightened it can damage the seal.
They only need to be tightened by hand

Dab your finger in oil and run it around the rubber seal on the oil filter. Then screw in the oil filter. It only needs to be hand tight.

I always turn the filter until the seal makes contact and then turn another 3/4 of a turn (by hand as has been said).

Is it running an Apollo tank or oil cooler ? If so you may have inadvertently loosened the sandwich plate where the take off pipes come out.

Can you tell exactly where the leak is coming from ? If it's coming from in front of the sandwich plate you'll need to remove the filter and tighten the fitting

I've actually assembled it now !! You'll just have to wait another couple of months while I get it in the post

Not all that well acturally!
I fitted a new exhaust to take full advantage of the engine work. That played havoc with my starter motor! But I've put a new relay in the wiring and overhauled the starter motor which seems to have improved it.
I also buggered my battery by dropping one of the exhaust primaries over the starter motor contacts...twice. Que new battery.
And I have a rough idle. ~1500RPM dropping to stalling RPM at which point the car normally manages to catch it and shoots it back up to 1500 again.
Tried a few things but still not fixed.
