Hi
can anyone help?

I am new to caterhams and have only had mine a few weeks. Its an sv 1.8 k series engine roadsport light. I noticed a few days ago that when I braked a buzzing sound appeared(similar to the sound when you use the indicators) but it went after 10 mins or so. Then on Friday it was back but if I indicated and braked the lights buzzer sounded very quick. Then it went again. Today the buzz appeared again and when I indicated/braked the engine just died. I pulled over turned the ignition off and then restarted the car and it was fine. 2 mins later it did the same again. Then it stopped and it was fine.
None off the other electrics cause an issue just the lights.

Cheers if anyone can help. I am not very mechanical minded so need any help I can get!

I would think the reason the lights cause the problem and nothing else in just the current draw. I would check 3 areas: 1, earth on wiper motor bracket 2, earth on chassis near battery (if there is one) 3, earth on vertical chassis tube under nose cone.

And check the connections at the battery as well - had something similar years ago in a tin-top when the dealer installed a new battery and forgot to tighten the terminals - car started OK (??) but flashed someone to let them out and the engine died!

There might be an earth near the wiper motor bracket. If that goes bad then you get all sorts of strange earthing problems - intermittent motor among them. Gauges can play up light switches do odd things...
Worth checking.

Hang in there Drew. Sure they'll suss it, and sounds like a great car otherwise. Have you had yourself checked for weird electrical influence smile
