I enjoyed modding and tinkering with my Mk1 MX5 for the past couple of years. Good enough for track days and I still think a bargain at that price point.
Then I had a go in a mates Caterham and it was game over for the little Mazda, I knew what I had to do...

And so I have! Raided the piggybank amd picked up a wonderful 1.8 supersport with some choice mods - very impressed.

Not had a chance to really drive it yet as I've been working abroad, but great to know it's in the garage ready and waiting for my return.

And it's yellow biggrin

Well, from the ad:

June 1998, 23,600 miles

Engine:
- Fully rebuilt as a 1.8 K-Series in 2008 (nothing wrong with the original but fancied a fun winter project)
- New rings, big-end shells, head bolts and gaskets
- Head fully ported, skimmed, crack tested, re-cut valve seats with bigger valves
- VHPD cams, valve springs and mechanical followers, Piper Vernier pulleys
- VHPD throttle bodies
- SLR 4-2-1 manifold with Raceco titanium silencer
- Apollo tank, RadTec aluminium radiator and silicon hoses
- 6 speed gearbox with 3.62 Quaife Limited Slip Differential (both serviced by Road & Race transmissions)
- Emerald ECU mapped by Track'n Road, 175 bhp @7,600 rpm
- Only 4,000 road miles since engine rebuilt

Chassis:
- Bilstein dampers with adjustable platforms, 170 lbs front springs and Freestyle adjustable anti-roll bar
- Flat-floor set up by Racecars Doctor
- 13' wheels with Toyo R888

Options fitted:
- Leather seats
- Full weather pack including hood bag and heater
- Carbon fibre dashboard
- Push start button, 12V accessory plug, mechanical oil pressure gauge
- 4 points harnesses, FIA roll-over bar and FIA cut-off switch

I'll get some pics up when I can - this is one from the ad:

No stick with your Leather seats, the tillets are orrible to get into/out of, especially with Harnesses fitted and Bloody cold to sit in on long journeys.

Hmmm, I'd have to disagree with you there S47. Getting in and out isn't that tricky for me as an average sized chap and the support they give whilst driving more than makes up for any issues. I also have the Oxted tillet leather seat pads and they are toasty warm on a long journey.

Spot on that man, and they do a great of stopping you from sliding around.
It's also amazing how much feedback you get through the seat of your pants with the tilletts, and thats no joke!!

You must be smaller than average if you find the tillets comfortable, I suppose the seat pads would help keep your Butt warm but it was my shoulders which always felt cold for me, And I'm average size too 6 foot tall and 12 stone, the Bloody harnesses always bruised my hips, so IMO they are Too Narrow accross this area to fit me comfortably. Now the Leather seats are a revelation, warm, comfortable, and plenty of support.
Guess you pays your money - etc etc.

I'm 15 stone and fit in Tillets easily.

You need to chase a few more sheep.

Ah, I see the problem here, I thought I was average but at 5'9" and 12 stone, clearly I'm not biggrin

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps!

Current leather seats seem to be fine, bet I guess half the fun is suiting the car to the individual.
