I managed to get a short ride in a manual C6 yesterday that had the back boxes removed.Essentially a straight through Sounded awesome. I didn't manage to go any sort of long drive. So was unable to see or hear the effects of droning. What i would want to know is. If i did the same. What would i loose in terms of bhp?

Not sure on bhp,but seems like the restriction of a muffler can increase torque.
Decat pipes on my car (lambo) reduced tq enough you could feel.
It maybe that old thing when its louder you think its faster.
I love a good exhaust note, and dont mind giving up a little to get it.
Maybe the only way you will know is to unbolt the mufflers and go for a blast.biggrin

I have a powerflow system on there at the moment. Its virtually straight through,as when looking from one end of the box to the other you can see straight through. The sound is restricted by the wadding around it.If there is no detrimental effect to performance then i will see about removing the boxes this week.

I had the Billy Boat rear boxes on my C6 Z06 which were non muffler but followed the same shape as the standard rear pipes i.e. up and over the rear axles and then out before exiting to the rear centre.

Much louder than standard and no drone at an speed.

Removing a restriction will never decrease power.
If adding decat pipes dropped power its because fueling changed, or the cats were acting as an expansion chamber which got removed, thereby affecting the scavange ability of the exahust, or similar.

Well. I ditched the boxes on friday.OMG the sound.Way better than any of the aftermarket stuff i have heard on offer.I haven't noticed any drop in performance. If anything it feels more lively. I'm impressed.

So basically your saying i can have that sound and keep the power/torque.
em maybe gut the cats instead of replacing with tube,/+ fueling
