Well ok it's not going to be economical but that's not really a concern. Where's the best place to look for one of these. I've had a look on Pistonheads classified but there's only 1 for sale which seems a little on the high side price wise. Or is there anyone who knows of one coming up for sale, or even thinking of selling there’s drop me a PM. That would be very helpful. Thanks

The red Z06 on Pistonheads has been for sale for a while now so you might get a good deal, if you're interested, on that one.

It's always worth putting a wanted ad in the Pistonheads classifieds.

I would also be looking to import one myself and would definitely be searching the rest of Europe for one. If you search for 'corvette club' on www.google.de for example, you'll discover quite a few owners clubs in Germany.

You may be better buying an 08 onwards model year vette, with the better gearbox and steering. Also bhp is 437 in a manual. Tyres will last much longer and a much newer car for less money. Nice Victory edition for sale on Pistonheads.

437Bhp is a bit low for a Z06 and I don't recall a new gearbox wink

08+ Z06 has new TR6060 box as well as the normal C6
But a cam in the LS3 C6 would probably match power output of a Z06, but you would be losing lots in the way of rpm, kerb weight, brakes, wheels, suspension, etc, etc.
The Z06 is definitely the better car.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say the Z06 is definitely a different kind of car? After all, if you want the sun on your face and the wind in your hair it's a dreadful car smile Seriously, it represents a different set of design-decisions and compromises versus a regular C6...and each can only be better or worse depending on an individual's requirements.

Comparing Coupe to Coupe Id say the Z06 wins in all depts.
I cant see any negatives in comparison. Its a step up in all respects except perhaps purchase price.

Funding considerations aside, once I'd driven a Z06 there was no way I'd have settled for a regular C6, great car that is in its own right.

Sure mine said 505BHP on the badge, perhaps Rob's referring to the Rear wheel Horsepower.......

On the subject of economy, my 2008 C6 Z06 did 33 MPG (UK MPG not US MPG) on cruise control driven at 70 MPH on the freeway in the USA over 1500 miles. It did average 24 MPG (UK) driven in the UK over about 30,000 miles so motorway, town, track, etc.

The mpg figures are correct, as I have just covered 1200 miles and as you state 33mpg at a steady 70 and about 24 through long winding country lanes. I would say town driving is about 16 to 18 mpg.

24mpg overall is pretty impressive - I get 22mpg (UK) average (over 23K miles) with LS3 auto.

mine indicated 21 MPG but that's US MPG and their gallon is 7/8th of an Imperial gallon so divide by 7 = 3 multiply by 8 = 24 smile

Sadly I was already applying the correction. Computer says just over 19mpg! smile
