Done, I Paid €1.75 per litter today in NL....... Highest I have ever seen it and at usage of 16 per 100km it's getting expensive frown

As we hit the £6 gallon, my employer is "going green" rolleyes by eliminating the "over 2-litre" category for fuel expenses...meaning I'll soon get 16p per mile! Still, if I can get 37mpg it'll just about cover the petrol costs...

Done.

Also wrote to my local MP before Christmas copying George Osborne with reference to the Tax Stabilizer promise in the election that had disappeared without trace at that time and citing the side effects on the economy of rising fuel prices.

Got a reply from the local MP but nothing from G.O. as expected. My guess is that this will get the usual lip service until the fuel prices are so high that when they implement it at £9 a gallon, there will be no benefit to us as oil prices drop again, and no loss to the exchequer. But there will be losses in terms of companies, jobs and people falling below the breadline as salaries fail to keep pace with the cost of living. And then we will get Liebour back again next time as those with short memories vote against the pain they are suffering... and here we go again for 13 years.

Different colour, same old s**t.

The Question is :
Do we want the £1000 in shares Cameron is talking about giving to everyone on the electoral role in lieu of the billions we put into the banks (£46 BILLION cost)and spend it on petrol,or do we want 30p a litre of duty off until the equivalent money has been spent ?
The other thing is : didn't we pay a LOT more bailing the banks out ? Another bad investment, mind you the difference was probably swallowed in bonuses !
If he gives the money out, better invest in Stella Artois, they are gonna have a beano !!

Nigel that Includes the first year reg fee which is in the price of the car, Next year the tax will go back to £445 a year the same as any new car with C02 over 255.

Even an Astra Auto first year tax may be £450 but then go down to £200 the following year the car maker will build this into the on the road price if a cars up at £24995 OTR you will find the £915 is already in the price but still scary to see that price on your tax disc!!

If you remove 5 of the spark plugs you'll be left with a nice economical 2 litre. Job's a good'un!

That sounds simpler than my plan. I was going to rig up an old washing machine motor and some Duracells to make it a hydrid - if Kylie can do it for Lexus I thought it can't be that difficult...
