Proabably the single most rewarding and easy mod you can do to any manual Vette from about 1992 onwards!
Keith from Eurovettes may have one in stock if you are lucky. www.eurovettes.com

I looked into this during my pre-purchase investigations, but in the end I am getting a Euro car so I dropped the subject. I do seem to remember that it might also be possible to turn it off in the ECU software, using an application such as EFILive.
Absolutely correct yes. Simple check box. Of course efilive costs a bit more than the hardware fix. But for anyone interested in such things its an added benefit that it also can disable CAGS BLUETHUNDER said:
Would a HP tuner be able to do the same thing??.Ive used it on my Hummer to reset various lights and you can do a multitude of things with it such as alter gear ratios. You can even play about with the injectors with it.And its Corvette compatiable as well.
Had a quick look and it appears it's straightforward to do on HP Tuners - simple on/off selection and possibly disabling a CEL. But, this seems even easier, if you haven't seen it already...http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-corvette-genera...
Happy to have a play with HP Tuners if you want though
Fitting a CAGS eliminator is a 10 minute job. All you need to do is jack up the car, slide yourself underneath from the passenger side, making sure you have properly supported the car. (It's your Elf and Safety init)
Then following the instructions you unplug a connector on the side of the transaxle / gearbox and plug in the CAGS Eliminator.
Slide yourself out from underneath the car and then drop it off the jack.
Then take the car for a drive where you are in 1st and the 1-4 light comes on the dash and try changing to 2nd.
Job Done.
