The Corvettes that were sold in this country, where were they bought from ? I'm guessing it would most probably be the Chevrolet Dealers, but the Chevrolet Dealers in the UK are more used to flogging ex Daewoo cars than Corvettes ?

Also, if you wanted your Corvette Serviced at a dealer, could you take it to your local Chevrolet Dealer ?

Depends on the vintage. C5s were sold from a small number of Vauxhall dealers, C6s were sold from either Bauer Millet or from a small number of Stratstone dealers. For servicing, if it's under warranty then you're looking at either BM or Whitequay in Reading/Southampton. Out of warranty you've got specialists who'll be cheaper - choice depends on where you live.

I've owned my C5 from new - purchased in April 2000.

I do oil changes and brake pad changes myself - both extremely easy - much easier than the other cars I own.

I took the car into Ian Goss (near Kingston) for its first service in November (100,000 miles or 10 years, which ever comes first). Had the brake fluid and transmission fluid (with filter) changed. Total less than £200. Not bad for 10 years motoring - 44,000 miles.

Now the money spent on modifications - probably in excess of the original purchase price. That's the real cost of ownership.

My '87 came from Bauer-Millet originally. Claremont are private, very knowledgable, but generally supply genuine GM parts which is a very expensive way to service a Corvette. There are others who can supply and fit aftermarket parts for a more reasonable cost at no detriment to the car.

I do all my own work and use Eurovettes myself, and one or two others in the UK who can supply from stock e.g. Alternator for £70 and brand new Bosch MAF for £220.

I've been going to the Ians Goss (father and son) for servicing my 'vette for some years now. No problems & good at diagnosing trouble. Sensible prices and there is a CCCUK member discount too.

Mum has literally been on the phone 20 minutes ago after Keith from Eurovettes did both hers. Top bloke and the prices are painless.

Mine gets done by my own hands, I can normally find myself doing far bigger repairs than a service mind!
