It's really bad snow near me, I saw a new XK Jag getting stuck on a main road today, anyone used their Vette as a daily drive?

Did it last year, and it was OK. Let Wendy's Beetle take the strain this morning so haven't tried it this year yet!

I would want the other numpty's on the road to run into me, I did use it in the pre snow, icey conditions though, went well.

Drive my '87 vette all year round on a daily 26 mile, mostly on a country 'B' road commute to work. Even did this in the snow and ice last winter with barely legal 295's on the rear. Slipping and sliding a lot of the time, but never got stuck or lost control. I do keep a bag of kitty litter in back just in case. Dropping the tyre pressures to 25 helps a bit too.

I love how I can position the car via the throttle to get me where I want to go!

i followed a gleaming yellow C6 through the lanes heading towards the M6 motorway yesterday, hardly any snow around B'ham, but plenty of salt has been laid down

The C5's traction control seems to be pretty ignorant. When the car senses wheel slip, it just shuts down power to the rear wheels. You then have to come off of the power, wait a second, and then continue. The process is so slow that, if you're going up even a gentle, snowy incline, the car will roll back and there isn't much one can do but wait. I've come to the conclusion that it's more dangerous than helpful. The alternative is to drive in snow without the traction control on. I don't like doing that. The run-flat tires don't seem to grip well and the wheels are wide, so it feels like the car sits on top of the snow.

When it snows, the car stays inside.

Did last year, all o.k untill I hit a patch of ice turning a corner, only doing about 10 mph slid into the kerb damaged a couple of wheels, wheel bearing, drive shaft.

Snow, ice, sub zero temperature,s a powerful rwd car >400bhp, summer tyres, you got to ask yourself, do I feel lucky today or are am I truly a driving god.
I am quite obviously neither.

For me Corvette tucked up in the garage untill the temperature rises, winter tyres on the Octavia peace of mind.

The winter tyres do seem to make a real difference maybe if I had some on the vet?

Drove home on Friday via Muswell Hill - which was pretty snow/icey - handled beautifully. Lovely drift around the roundabout (around the outside of a merc 4x4). Was actually very surprised how balanced it was in those conditions

Got bored on Sunday and fitted some snow socks to it. Thoroughly recommend them. Got me out of 7" of snow.

I pulled it out, washed it and put it away. Even the DD is struggling.

And its going to get worse. I need to replace the tyres and I'm going non runflats this time (AS ZPs at present). Could be Summer motoring from now on.

I might have guessed Steve would get in with some piccies smile

Here's mine this morning before setting off for work. Snow in our road, but OK on the main roads. I would get some snow socks for emergencies, but couldn't find any in C6 sizes... Anyone know of any sources?

Have you got 18" or 19" on the rear ?
Got a feeling that the C5 Z06 and the C6 are the same size ?

What size are the tyres on your C5? I've got standard C6 285/35/19 which seem to be about an inch lower radius that the MGRIP93 fitments.

C5 and C5Z06 have 17" fronts and 18" rears from the factory. I believe the C6's are one inch bigger, front and rear. ZR1 is perhaps larger still.

I was stupid enough to try and drive my Z06 in the snow, wasn't even deep. Managed to get to the end of the road and stuck at the junction. Caused a nice disruption to the flow of traffic. On the plus side a cute blonde pushed me back wink
Does anybody know if snow socks are made big enough for the C6 Z06? If so where to get them?
