I went to have a look at one today. It had the uprated brakes and a mod to the e.c.u. But what else was involved in it. Their was no badging on the wings. And the car was without HUD and Nav. Would this be right?.

Z51 from memory included the following -
Larger drilled discs
Stiffer anti roll bars
Shorter diff ratio
Stiffer shocks
Transmission oil cooler
GY Eagle F1 supercar tyres.

All EU spec cars had it as standard. Thy are pretty floaty without it (obviously this can be cured with aftermarket kit), and even with the shorter diff the gearing is still pretty tall!

HUD was an additional option/included in the higher trim levels.

It's far easier to sell a C6 with HUD, Z51 and Nav than one without, so if you are looking at a car without all three make sure it's priced accordingly.

There was no mod to the ecu that I recall.

If it's the one on autotrader that's been up for sale for a while.
Silver cars do hang around unless they're a Z06(I rarely ordered any for stock).

Did you ever sell a Vette at Stratstone without HUD?

Thats the one. All what you have listed was on the U.S paperwork. Its a direct import from the states from new. Weren't the Z51 decals part of the package?. Like you said. Its the lack of Nav and HUD thats putting me off, plus the fact i really wanted black. Its priced at £24,000 with 23,000mls on the clock.

Look at the Options ('RPOs') label which is fixed inside the passenger glove compartment, mate. The Corvette Black book will give you the explanations of all the main ones, such as HUD, Z51, Manual/auto trans. A more complete listing is available from the C5/C6 Registry on the net, where the production numbers are listed on an annual basis. If the car does not have the label, walk.
Call me if you're stuck - I can talk you through the process. I have a Black book covering 2005/6/7 and the RPO details for 2007 C6.

(Cont....!) Just realised I didn't give you my phone no: it's 01256-764193.
Having read your previous msge, there are no 'Z51' decals fitted at B'Green to cars thus-equipped. Any Z51 badges will have been fitted by previous owners. I think I looked at the silver 6 you are talking about when I was C6-searching (summer 2009). The guy has had it for some time....I offered 23K but it wasn't enough, then, although my heart wasn't in it as I wasn't 100p.c. happy about the spec and mileage. (Silly 'USA' licence tag, too....).There wasn't much of a choice at the time, tho'. In retrospect I'm glad I didn't buy it because I have since found a much better C6, albeit a bit more expensive. Proves the old adage though: wait until you find the car that's EXACTLY RIGHT.
One other observation: apart from a few private sales, the C6 market is (was, anyway) fairly well tied up between 5 protagonists: Am Dreams, Claremont, Dart, Dromey and Chris Graham. They all talk to one another. I'm not saying they run a cartel - far from it - but they do, as I say, communicate. In fairness, Chris Graham will always find you a nice one, and he has a v. good reputation which he is keen to maintain. For what it's worth, I ended up buying my '07 from American Dreams, but you need to know what you're doing! (e.g. my car had the option 'C2L' on the label - the second, acrylic roof - but it wasn't with the car. I got a reduction for that.) I find that the SVA lighting mod done by A Ds isn't brilliant: it satisfied the original MOT tester, but I understand there are better ways of doing it. A colleague who bought a 2006 Z06 from the same source had a similar experience. He subsequently spent a fair sum re-modifying it; I haven't - I've learnt to switch on the side lights to override the DRLs. Not perfect, I admit. (Apart from that, though, my car is absolutely cock-on; totally original, one Fla owner, no mods, beautifully specc'd...).
Good luck then, and don't rush. In fact, if you want some moral support and 'another pair of eyes'I would be willing to go over any prospective purchases with you, as long as it's not 1,000,000miles away. I'm in N. Hampshire.

Thanks for a very informative post. I think he is at a desperate point to sell. That £24,000 is now negotiable. To what extent i dont know as we never got that far. He was willing to offer £12,000 for my C5 convertible. But trading it in wasn't an option. I would rather a straight sale off of P.H. It looked nice and drove well. But in the end i just had the feeling i would be buying something that wasn't what i really wanted.

Victory Ed's were sold in 07 in Black with red and yellow with grey as a 6.0 and then in 08MY the same black or yellow but with the new 6.2 engine and the carbon/leather trim center console. i think the yellow ones are worth loads more money!!! rofl

I think the ad on pistonheads looks really poor and one awful photo to go with it.

The 07 ones also had a numbered plaque on the centre console and a certificate of authenticity.

Going back to mark and the original post, the car that you are looking at presumably also doesn't have the memory sports seats with adjustable bolsters, and is the less desirable 05 model year. HUD has Been retro fitted in the states, so you could look at that.

If I was looking to buy it, I think that it would need to be much closer to 20k to make up for the lack of specification, and bear in mind that you will need to price it competitively when you want to upgrade to a z06!

I think that the z51 badges were an aftermarket item, even in the states.

Never.
Sold one 06 auto convertible without nav in metallic red. The guy didn't want to pay for it as he was going to keep the car for a long time. 12 months later he was trying to sell it due to divorce!

Just looking on ph, the silver American dreams car has all the spec for not much more cash, and the better built 07 blue uk car (albeit 6speed paddle shift) is only a bit of negotiation away from being similar money.

I noticed the full spec of that one earlier. The only reason i went to look at the one mentioned, was because it was nearer to home. It nearly proved to be fatal,as after i looked around it,and had a lenthy drive of it,i started to be drawn in,until my sensible head kicked in and i realised it didn't have all the features i was looking for,and it wasn't the right colour.

I acknowledge you want manual 6sp. transmission, but now I've had my paddle-shifter for almost a year, I can't recommend it highly enough. (If you want to do track days, fair enuff - stick with manual,(no pun intended!) but having said that, the F1 guys have paddle-shift.......).
Anyway - bear in mind that the traffic in this country is prob gonna get worse (congestion-wise) so you may ultimately get tired of shoving a clutch pedal in and out while you spend an hour moving 200yds. on the M25. Maybe I'm getting lazier with age, but I find it very pleasant to be able to drive up to , say, 6-tenths in full auto, but when the mood takes me and I want to 'get it on', the 'sport' mode (i.e. paddle-shifting) is great fun!!
Also, with HUD, you get to see which gear you're in, just in case you weren't sure. (Believe me, with 6 to choose from, it's not always self-evident).
Besta luck - J.C.
