My C5 Z06 is insured with Stevenage Insurance, and their quotation for renewal is up by whopping 62%. Even after speaking with them, they can't get it down much below that figure!

There are no changes from my existing policy, so to say the least, I'm surprised (and that's an understatement).

Anyone else being quoted massive increases for their renewals?

Vote with your wallet and find someone else like Adrian flux or MCE.

Got a good quote from Adrian Flux, but as for MCE - where the hell do they get their staff from! I kept getting put on hold all the time; asked the same queston two or three times over, and all I could hear in the background was an utter racket (office banter, joking and laughing).

The person I spoke with in their American Car Dept. was completely uninterested. I got a half-decent quote from them, but if the quotation experience is anything to go by, I do wonder what MCE would be like if I ever needed to make a claim.

I was with Flux until i got my new quote from them yesterday. It went from £580 to £1050 this year. When i queried it i was told the rate was due to an outstanding claim that hadn't been settled. And that they base the qoute on the worst case scenario. I.e if its my fault. I wonder if AF would refund me the difference if i was found to be not at fault??. I got a good quote from footman james of £560. Looks like they will be getting my custom.

We are having similar problems concerning Mustangs. I've been with A-Plan for a while and the rates on my minimal mileage higly modified car is competitive but they are now asking for LHD experience and are now suggesting they are more competitive for cars 7 years old or more. Others have been getting short shrift from Flux and other companies but there seems no real rhyme or reason for the variations. I won't use Flux as they want an aftermarket alarm. many are getting good quotes from MCE but there are many bad experiences reported there too.

Our borrowed runabout VW Polo is going back to its owner today so I called Swift Cover to cancel the policy which runs out in Feb 2011. Apparently they charge £52.50 to cancel the policy and as it wasn't very much to insure anyway, I have to pay £8.01 to cancel the policy! banghead

Someone on the Mustang forum suggested Heritage ask for Holly Brown 0121 246 6065.

Thanks for all the suggestions chaps.

I'm continuing my quotation marathon today; it's a total pain in the derriere, but it's got to be done.

Other thresd over in General Gassing are running along the lines of "my premium just went up by xx%"

It appears that higher premiums industry-wide, so shopping around may not get the desired result (my OH has just had here premium rise by 20%ish, for exactly the same cover)

You could try Stevenage, who I found have been very competitive for me, even compared to most of the others mentioned above (10-15% discount for CCCUK members, but I've never been asked to prove this). ATEOTD, it just comes down to the lottery of finding someone you are happy with.

Let us know how this ends up

Swift are indeed pants. Won't bore you with the details but had an 'interesting' experience with them two years ago. They are cheap, but there is a reason for that, back up is not forte, in my opinion they are the Ryanair of the insurance world!!!

Are not most mainstream insurance broker. Owned by banks these days? Gives them a reason for increasing premiums across the board. My insurance went up by £5 this year, doesn't seem too bad compared to most!

My insurance runs out in Feb 2011. Last premium was 285.00 with 60% ncd. They want 858.00 to renew. Yes, I had an accident which wasnt my fault and they reducede my ncd to 20%. Still seems high. Their excuse is as there were no witnesses they cannot prove I was not to blame and will go 50-50 with the other party's insurance. Very convienient for them but expensive for me.

This is the thing that p*sses me off most. If they want convenience, they shouldn't reduce your NCD as they can't prove it's your fault either.

They wouldn't even quote on the Camaro, they said they were no longer quoting on New US cars.
I got the policy from Flux who used the same insurer.

I heard about MCE no longer doing American cars but what about Flux?

I'm going to move the other cars away from A Plan as well this year.
