C5 Error Code C1214
Discussion
Well the computer in the vette decided to throw up the inevitable:- 'Check ABS, Service Traction Control, Service Active Handling'.
Don't mind that the traction Control is not on, as I prefer this type of driving, but my wife is not very happy, also it is annoying seeing those lights on.
I know that I can get the EBCM replaced at great expense at a major dealer, or the alternative, have the existing unit repaired in the USA.
Question is, is there anybody here in the UK who can repair the EBCM ?

I had the same problem crop up a couple of years ago on a trip to Germany. I also had the added problem that when it done it it was on a hillside road going in to a bend and it was throwing the power on and off.
By chance when i got back to the UK it managed to sort itself out. I did pop in to Claremonts on the way home and spoke to Tom. He said it was more than likely dirt on T.C sensor. It never managed to come back on after that.

Did you check the codes and confirm a C1214? From the title I assume you did and it is indeed typical of an EBCM failure but there are a number of other components to the system which could be at fault. In my case I have a C1287 which I've tied down to a bad steering wheel sensor.
BTW, normally when you get that trip you still have TCS but the active handling trips out. Also, not sure if you're aware but you can still drive the car while the EBCM is being fixed you just lose AH during that period.
If it is a C1214, I only know of absfixer who repair the unit in the US. Never heard of a UK company who do that work.

Thanks Dee Gee. Yes I am aware that the car is drivable after removal of the unit, which may well be going to the USA for repair. They claim that the repair is done immediately and the part is returned within a week. Don't know if anyone here has used ABSFIXER.
Not that I've heard but plenty of friends on the Corvette Forum have and he does a good job!Gassing Station | Corvettes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
