Hi chaps

Being toying with the idea of supercharging my C5 Z06 - coming up against too many hyper cars that have that little bit more grunt.

Anyone done it? what were the ramifications of doing it ?
Do i need to upgrade the suspension & brakes ?

And what about traction - bigger tyres ?

Lots of boosted cars in the US, very common mod. Seen one or two in the UK.

Only real issue is LS6 is slightly higher static CR than an LS1, so you might not be able to run as much boost on stock internals and street fuel.

Brakes and suspension upgrades will be up to you. Many will say yes, while others will say no. (All IMO of course smile )

Any idea on which blower you want, ATI, Pro Charger?

Does look like a KB. Only shame is with a PD blower you have to run a different bonnet, which IMO slightly ruins the lines of the C5.

OP, some interesting turbo options too, take a look at STS: http://www.ststurbo.com/c5___c5_z06_corvette

Hi guys,
Yeah Kenne bell kit,the blower is made by aero rotor i think.
And yeah the hood is probably the main issue.
I wanted this particular kit so had to put up with the large hood.
But then had a play with an old ACI hood i had hanging on my wall.
Got it to fit and like it a lot more, ill do a few pics.
catch you later
Dave

Issues to consider

Is it auto? the 4L60E is weak and won't take the power. An expensive upgrade required
Avoid a blower that takes oil from the pan
Running 6-7 psi is fine on stock internals
You'll need a tune - I loaded the wrong one and am currently replacing a piston.
Fuelling will be an issue - upgraded injectors or supplementary pump required.
Intake temperatures go up enormously, so go for an intercooler rather than alki cooling.

My insurance tried to make me upgrade the brakes but the blower company wrote a letter that got me of the hook.

It starts as the joy of your life, becomes an obsession and end up a nightmare - enjoy the power, there's nothing like it.

I agree there is a lot to consider.

4l60e is an issue (got one too frown ) although it does seem that it is revs more than power that tend to junk them. Keep to the stock rev limits and it should (hopefully) be less of an issue.

Most guys in the US would run a trans cooler and also a TransGo shift kit (the BMR one sucks).

6-7psi is fine, but remember LT's and an exhaust and different intake can all affect psi, as boost is a measure of resistance not flow. If you have a full exhaust and other breathing mods, then you'll be making a fair chunk more power for the same psi.

PSI is measured against the intake valve though. But yeah exhaust etc will increase power by emptying cylinder better.
A Cam will drop boost by the largest amount for a single mod. PD blowers only push a fixed amount of air though. So you need to spin them up higher to generate more power. Centri and Turbo etc semi take that into account as exess boost is often dumped.
Turbo is probably best way to get more power efficiently once you have sorted out the mechanical mods such as cam, heads, exhaust, intake etc. Choose your power goal and work backwards!

Contact either East Coast Supercharging, or A&A Corvette in the US.

They sell complete kits where you wont have to change the bonnet. And their kits are absolutely tried and tested.
