Well as the title says. I've finally had the engine rebuilt with some nice new shiny Katech parts, the heads done, the compression raised and the exhaust and intake all fitted. Now I've just received my HP Tuners software and dongle thingy and going to strap her down on the rollers in the next few days and see how my tuning skills are! Never done this before so does anyone know where to start with HP Tuners and what my settings should be?

Only kidding! hehe I've spoke to one of the well recommended tuners in the states and he's going to do it all live over the internet using the real time tuning via my laptop! So fingers crossed for anywhere in the region of 560rwhp.

I have to say I'm loving this motor more and more. Its so easy to get bits for and its now really coming together. I'm looking at upgrading the brakes further and wondered if I could have the collectives opinions on what they are running especially if you track the car.

Cheers!

Great news Craig cool - I'm sure it will be great when it is mapped - every Dyno is different
Katech are making around 635 at the fly on the conservative Mustang dyno

Hp Tuners requires a bit of learning with regard to get the hang of manipulating the tables - of course apart from that, knowing what tables to manipulate in the first place is the real battle.

I can help you out if you get stuck.

Best to employ a tuner if you are not sure - who are you using? - Carlos? Jim Hall? - they are both very experienced.

I thought about fitting ZR1 brakes but decided to stay with steel discs - have been waiting 2 months+ for 15" Brembo kit to arrive - still waiting!!

Waiting 3 months too for ClubSport wheels from Katech!! - be careful regarding front wheel fitment if you go for the 15" front Brembos

The standard 18" front wheels won't fit - CCW or Katech Clubsport 18" will - other than that you have to use 19" fronts
I have a set of Michelin PSC 285/35/18 front and 325/35 19 rear waiting for the wheels

Katech aero kit is on its way too - front splitter undertray and brakeducts - rear spoiler - side skirts
Very good smile

Hey John!

I've got Carlos doing it live over the internet in the next day or so. I'll wait till I've had some training on the HP Tuners before I go anywhere near it!

What ZR1 Aero's are you going for? Carbon finished or painted? I've got the painted as it gave the car a lower meaner looking stance. I thought the carbon looked great but was lost when on the road. Which is a shame as I love my carbon hehe

I think I'm now going to go down the AP Racing route. I've seen a few of the brembo cars chew through the pads in a session or two on the track and I've used the AP ones in the past and loved them. But we'll see.

Hows Scotland these days? Sorry I didnt get a chance to catch up when I was back home.

Won't be too difficult over the Internet the way you are doing it - Carlos will manipulate the actual tables and you will just have to flash and re-flash the ECM.
You will be able to set up and optimise the Air/Fuel ratio, and main spark table quite quickly on the dyno

'Drive-ability' issues - depending upon how important issues like that are to you - may take a little longer to resolve as the car settles down
Carlos is very good so I doubt you will have problems - if there is anything you don't understand, or you are having problems E mail me, and I will help you.

I am going for Katech's aero kit - it is well thought out, especially the brake cooling duct design.
The standard setup relies on that airdam under the car to force feed the brake cooling ducts and I find that setup generates a lot of front end lift at high speed.
I was hoping at one time to go for AP racing brakes - Gary at Hardbar has been working on a great AP Racing Radi-cal setup - but it was not ready in time for me.
Doug Rippie Motorsport DRM do a very nice AP system with a brake balance valve setup included

Hope your trip home went OK - look forward to meeting up next time you are back.

I'm very interested in how you get on with your engine - keep me updated thanks! wink

Wortec/Monkfish are the UK HP Tuners dealers/tuners here in the UK

Tuning live via the internet sounds a little odd lol.

Gareth has his V8 Ute done by an Ozzie guy with efilive.
Not ideal, but probably better than someone throwing random values in.
