Hello, I am a Spaniard which probably will move to the UK in 3 or 4 months. I have just sold my car (LHD, of course). But I am considering the possibility of buying in Spain a Corvette C6 (a second hand one) and then moving to the UK with that car (Corvettes are not RHD in the UK, I believe).

Is it worth the hassle?

Plus: I will have a car here for 3 or 4 months. I will have one thing less to do when I arrive to the UK (buying a car). I can sell the Vette in the UK and buy a proper RHD car.

Con: is it complex/expensive to register the car from Spanish plates to British ones? Do I need to do it?

What would you do?

Registering the car should be easy, you would just need to send off your title document and proof that you bought the car inside the EU i.e. taxes have been paid, so the best thing would be the bill of sale. If the car is more than 3 years old it would need an MOT which costs about £50 and every car over 3 years old needs one every year.
If the car is an official EU car rather than a grey import that is all you would need, if its a grey import then it would possibly also need the Spanish equivalent of the SVA / IVA or a Certificate of Conformity.

There are very few C6 Corvettes for sale in the UK at the moment as most have been snapped up by the rest of Europe as the exchange rate is so good Euro to Pound, so you might actually be better off just bringing your cash and buying one here if you can find one that is!
