ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS! AND NON-MEMBERS WHO WOULD LIKE TO BE!

Good grief - it's that time of the month again. Tuesday 27th March is the next official, exclusive members only (and non-members and in fact anyone) Club Night for the Surrey Region meeting of CCCUK. The Creme de la creme of Vetters everywhere.

The sun is shining so GET DOWN EARLY - a lot of the crew are usually there from 7pm onwards.

The Fairmile Arms is located along the Portsmouth Road, Cobham, Surrey, KT11 1BW, between Cobham and Esher. Closest motorway junction is 10 off the M25. From there, follow the A3 towards London and come off at the first junction, then turn right, signposted Cobham. Go over a roundabout, past the BMW dealer on the right, at the next button-roundabout turn left. The Fairmile is along on the left just past the Shell petrol station.

No desperation here dear boy - just merely pointing out that EVERYONE is welcome, even you. In fact it's about time you came down and said hello!

I promise to at some point.
Unfortunately I'm going to be at a local residents meeting this evening as Southwark council in their great wisdon are trying to put 3 40+ floor towers at the end of our road (Bermondsey Street SE1), when the rest of the road is a conservation area with nothing over 5 floors high.
I feel like a bit of a NIMBY, but they have already gone ahead and demolished half of Borough Market to make way for an overpriced rail link that could have been put at the Elephant and Castle.

Blimey James I use to live at the Elepahant! Can't say I miss East lane market, Still keep in contact with some friends who live around East lane in the flats..
It's more like a scene from the film Harry Brown now, Your old Volvo site is a block of flats now..

The Volvo site is actually a pile of rubble.
I enjoyed my time there. Never a dull moment at the Elephant -
Drug addicts coming in to steal sugar from the coffee machine
Low Life trying to steel computers from the desks during the day
Homeless people sneaking in a staff entrance to use the toilet
Kids throwing stones onto the cars from the Heygate Estate
Police incidents outside the showroom on a regular basis
Drug squads using the canteen to monitor the dealers on Elephant Lane
The Coronet next door occasionally headlined big name select gigs. Between myself and another salesman we used to let the owner use our carpark for the bands' vehicles, arranging to open it up when they arrived and let them out when it ended. This frequently didn't happen as we had entry to the gig and private after show party; off the top of my head two I remember inadvetantly impounding Blurs tour bus and Justin Timerlakes Range Rover (perhaps the second one was intentional..)

HROwen were paid generously by the council to terminate their lease on the site so that construction could begin, back in June 2006!
They did offer to rent the site on a rolling basis until construction began but it was turned down, so the council have missed out on 4 years of income and reduced employment in the area by about 100 (we shared the site with a CEF warehouse).

James it must be you! You leave Volvo and the site closed, you leave Cadillac and the site closed as well.. Is the Jag site you worked at still open? Are you doing Le Mans this year??

The other two Volvo sites that I worked at still operate, as does Jaguar, albeit as a dual franchise site (with Land Rover), as it was never going to make money solely on Jaguar - When you have only three models a 20 car showroom, 50+ space used car display and a 10 ramp workshop is a little excessive...Pendragon planning for you! I just choose to move at the right time.

No Le Mans this year unfortunately. I intended on going, but a new business venture will now restrict my free time this year.

Something else not Corvette related for you -

I have the dubious honour of helping to organise a stag weekend in the Tenby/Saundersfoot area for the first weekend in September.

Any suggestions? I have already tried to change the location, but have been outvoted.

And back to CORVETTES...!

A BIG thank you to everyone that joined the Surrey Meeting at the Fairmile last night. Huge turn-out, sunshine and at least two rows of Corvettes, C2's to C6's. No C1's though... (Thames Valley have one up on us there!)
