It was a real bummer when GM decided to bugger the Chevrolet brand up a few years ago sticking the name on hideous creations from Daewoo. It now appears that they are about to re-introduce marketing the Corvette as a Chevrolet in Europe once more. Great. Just think your C1-6 getting mixed up with the same company that brings you this...

I know how you fee. Everytime I see a crappy car like that with a GM badge on it I can't help but wonder if the numpty thinks he's got a vette or some vette dna in his cake tin.

To me it just ruins the GM image.

Most buyers that I sell too are unsure they should buy a Chevrolet as they are unsure of the brand! I think we are safe as the Corvette has always had it's own badge on it, If you look really hard you can just see a Chevrolet badge on it...

And lets not forget the States have always sold the Corvette as an all American V8 by Chevrolet and now that Europe's product line up is going to be the same as the States it makes no odds.

And back in 98 the C5 was launched as a Chevrolet Corvette with a Chevrolet dealer network, Corvette Blazer and Camaro were all sold under the bow tie.

I would buy a Corvette if it was sold with Skoda's for all I care so long as I can still buy the Vette in the UK who cares! (Come to think of it I think I did buy my last one from a Mickey Mouse dealer you know them? They have a showroom on Park Lane and Birmingham!!)

Showing my ignorance of Corvette heritage, which generations of Corvette over the years have actually had a Chevy badge on them?

I don't think there's one anywhere on the C5 and all I remember about the C6 is the little "GM" badge on the sides.

The C5 announces it's made by Chevrolet every time you turn on the ignition.
Admittedly the driver is the only witness for a second or two, then it's all over.

Actually the C6 does that too!

The point I was making was that after distancing Chevvy & Corvette in Europe GM are about to start mixing the two up again. They obviously change their mind like the wind, ditto having yet {i}another[/i} go at marketing the Caddy brand too I understand, both of which may stood a far better chance over here if they had backed the right horse to do the job for them in the first place. But let's not go there eh?

Right, but back where I was a moment ago the announcement on DIC and miniscule bow tie in the badge are hardly announcing things to the world! I'm thinking real Chevy branding with a big Bow Tie - like on the front of Camaros of all generations - has the Vette ever had anything like that?

Not even these racers seem to have them - just "GM racing" on the back,

The C5 also has a bow-tie under the rear licence plate - not exactly visible!

Amusing thread when read from across the pond.
It is not as though Chevrolet is considered an upmarket brand.
Like WOW the neighbours have a chevy. Maybe we should get one.

Same is true for GM of course. With Cadilac being their premier brand and Chevrolet producing some really non inspiring cars, Cobalt anyonesmile

I do hope none of you guys are prying off the little square badge in protestbiggrin

I know of someone that when they bought a Bentley GTC they asked to have taken off the original reg plates from his part exchange because they were from a main Bentley dealership and did not want the non Bentley plates on the new car !!! whistle
