Well hello again, it's been a while but since having a nasty road accident in 2008, I have now had a lot of back problems including having 2 discs removed .... Hence I am looking for some more supportive and comfortable seats for my 1978 vette. Does anyone know what else will fit without too much alteration and that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
I have the same issue with my '93 Camaro Z28 if anyone can help.

Thanks!

I bought mine from another Corvette Club member who said these were early Recarro's which he had re-covered and re-upholstered but never fitted.

They do look very smart! Any idea what kind of date / model they are? What year is yours?

I never thought of the Fiero seats, but they are a good option and probably more easily sourced. C5 look good too, Hmmm I'm off to look at what's on e-bay!
Thanks for everyone's help!

There were improved seats in '78 pace cars and from '79 on...so if yours isn't a pace car, that's another option!

Odd things - backs I mean. I had a lower disc removed a few years ago and actually find the stock early low back seats in my C3 really quite supportive - with nerve damage to my clutch leg the low seating position in a Vette works well for me. Weirdly I can't drive a manual car with a higher seating position and a light clutch. The heavier clutch gives me something to push against. C5 seats may raise the seating position too high if you are a tall person. Have you tried looking at aftermarket bucket seats?

Well I haven't looked at much really, my damage is mainly in my neck area (yes a real pain in the neck :-) haha)
I find that an more upright position is most comfortable and with me being a 5'3" girlie I need some adjustment so that my feet can reach the pedals and my arms reach the wheel. If there were more Yank owners around here I could try sitting in their's to see how it feels (so to speak). I did sit in a C4 and found the seat comfy although the action of getting in and out of the car terrible as it was like sitting in a trench (that was more the design of the car than the seats of course).
Well, if any of you chaps are out in the Louth area and wouldn't mind me cadging a sit in your 'vette, please let me know, purely as a point of research of course!.
