No to both questions at the moment! 7 inches of ice-covered snow outside so not even cadging lifts in Wendy's Beetle. I did drive in 1cm of snow the other night, but more through bad-timing than choice.

Really boils down to tyres... The F1 Supercars are so useless in cold weather I wouldn't risk snow, but with some vaguely more sensible rubber it'd probably be OK it as long as the snow wasn't more than a few inches deep.

Can you even get winter tyres for a 'vette? Or pehaps an unusual lift kit!

Yes, but it's ...... a bit slippy! driving

We should organise a standing quarter challenge to see who's got the most suitable throttle application for the conditions! Might need a long braking area though. scratchchin

Supposedly you can in the US, but I can't find anything (even just all-seasons) over here. Even snow-socks don't seem to be available in a suitable size..(for the Vette, not me!) Maybe we do need a Vette monster-truck winter kit!

Actually, finally decided to pop out earlier today. 5 inches of virgin snow on the drive, packed snow on the road...and it was fine even on the standard Supercars. Going forwards was no problem - just flick the autobox into 3rd - although reverse was more hit-and-miss being such a low gear. And on the loose stuff just had to remember to kill the traction control. Don't know what all the fuss is about smile

I tried it once in Las Vegas. After threading past the crazy Vegas drivers who didn't adjust driving habits by one iota, the biggest challenge I met was getting into the driveway. The squirrelly tyre tracks are the result.

I've got Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons but I still wouldn't drive in snow out of choice. Too many ponies through an A4 for a pleasant ride. The pics here are for effect

Yeah, the back wheels are pushing so hard all the time (my car climbs quite steep slopes at tickover) it's difficult to keep the balance with very gentle braking. Practically no grip at all today after more snow last night.

I drove my LT1 in the snow and it coped brilliantly.

Compared to my "12 years newer" Mustang which also supposedly has traction control but was sliding all over the place on fast-tickover earlier so I put it back in the garage - and that was a struggle.

If I had a pair of skinny 165mm town & countrys, a pressure sprayer (to remove salt afetrwards) and took away all the suspect drivers who have never seen snow, let alone drive in it,,,,,,,,,,, yeah I might drive in the snow!

With the 285 35 19 do they work with those socks mentioned in December even though sized for 285 45 19 - the reference 93 ones? Thanks - anyone know or found other snow socks that fit these tyres?
