Interesting, the roof panel coming off is old news, mine was replaced under warranty when Stratstones still had a garage/dealer in Manchester!

Still it has taken 3 years for a recall to be issued, must be a bigger problem that first thought.

Yes, it is old news, but the way I read it is that all previous work has been done under a service bulletin...This one is a pukka National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) safety recall for all the affected models. This can be pursued under Federal Laws.

GM were still changing affected cars, as a CCCUK member from the Thames Valley region just had his Z06 done at Whitequay-Southhamton in November!

Looks like they might be doing a few more now!!??

I wonder who you can contact to have this done in the Netherlands. As you all know we used to have the importer here until he went belly up. I have tried to register on the website GMOWNERCENTER but you can't with an address in the Netherlands. I will keep a close eye on the several threads going on different forums.

Does this apply to the transparent top as well?
If the car is a personal import will the cost still be down to GM or will the current owner be liable for any cost involved.

Guess again, so far all 5 have no idea what I'm talking about. About the transparent roof, I wouldn't be so sure that it isn't effected either. Time will tell what GM will do, let's see what happens in 2010.

Thanks for the info re. the glass top.
Comforting to know the top won t fly off.
I think that the cracking noise that is mentioned in the recall notes can also be caused by a bit of slack in the latches, I seem to recall reading about modified latches a couple of years ago. I notice that when the noise appears in my car ( an early 2005 C6),usually after driving 50 miles or more, I can stop the noise with a bit of downward pressure on the latch handle. Now I know that the top is not about to fly off I think I'll live with it.

Take it seriously folks, the outer skin came off my Z06's roof just as I was joining the M3 a few months ago and I'd had the earlier recall remedy done by Stratstones!
That was a bodge job by GM using foam to try to get the skin to adhere, but obviously it has proven inadequate, hence the new replacement recall.

I must admit I didn't know it applied to normal C6s too, I assumed Chevy went with the lightweight SMC for the Z06 only.

There's an inconsistency in the years given for the Z06 in the report pasted into the OP. Does this apply to 2007 Z06, or not? Does anyone have any more info.? Cheers.

As I've just posted this on the CCCUK...

Quite agree, whoever typed up that piece (not who copied and pasted it) made a slight hash of it... Here's some more info from the supporting documentation, which I hope clears it up a bit!?

Hope that helps?
