Maybe replace the tyres with something with a bit more cold-weather grip that the F1 Supercars...

Personally, I've never experienced any difficulty driving my Corvette on a motorway in the rain. It's hardly the cutting edge of manly endeavour.

Ditto. The only caveat being that when the "tramlines" worn by trucks in the left-hand lane fill with water it can be a pain...but then I don't spend too much time in the left-hand lane :-)

Oooh you're sooo butch Steve. Maybe if you ever upgrade to a "manly" Z06 you would take your old 5 series out in the rain in preference to the Vette. Why risk smacking up a toy when you have the choice of using a workhorse?

Steve threw in the word manly so it was used in my reply. I have also driven my Z many times in dreadful weather, but given the choice of an alternative, more suitable vehicle for the conditions, (as most of us on here do), I would prefer not too. Manly doesn't come in to it, just common sense.

I’m taking the Z06 to Normandy after Boxing Day for a couple of days, then Bruges for a New Year’s party followed by a couple of days in Lille, before we travel back….I can’t wait.
Lots of Z06 driving on clear French roads. I hope it doesn’t snow though…
Anyone else here off to France in the break?

Mine lives outside too and gets driven about 100 miles a day at the moment, handles everything the British weather can throw at it except deep snow. Have to say that driving 4x4 type vehicles is actually more dangerous in bad weather on the motorway in my experience as being so heavy they take way too long to stop!
The worst vehicle on frozen roads I ever drove was a 3 litre petrol Mitsubishi Shogun!

Just replaced the lower ball joints and a rear caliper and I am half way through fabricating a cold air box for the carb. Other than that I will get it out on dry days and drive it like it should be driven. Oh yes and on the 26th January I will celebrate its 40th birthday.party

I think the game has moved on since the 3Ltr Shogun - I had one of those about 12 years ago, they could barely make it around corners in the wet let alone stop efficiently. Have you sold your Vette yet Nigel?

Too busy driving it to seriously consider selling it! Will think about it after Xmas, but I will really miss it if someone does buy it.

Not surprised at that and for you to say that after driving it everyday just shows how good it is. Still not tired even slightly of mine and I just can't think of another car out there today that would put as big a grin on my face. Drove a new Bentley Super Speed today. Outrageous performance for such a heavy car but at £170K ?? Ouch...

One of the benefits of living in SW Scotland and having a partner who hails from Bognor Regis, means I get to make long motorway trips in my '87 regularly and in all weathers. I enjoy this so much now that I haven't had a 'proper' holiday in years. All my leave is now spent visiting her family and friends and trips to Goodwood and the like.

Nothing like sitting back and listening to the pipes burbling away for hours on end. Big tank and good mpg means I can do it without being ripped off with motorway petrol prices too!
