2010 Grand Sport review
Discussion
Some details,
- Replaces the Z51 package at $6,000 more than base car.
- 436 bhp LS3 build differs between manual and auto transmissions. Manual car engines are hand-built alongside LS7 and LS9 and have a dry sump oil system. Automatics use the normal LS3.
- Launch control standard on manual transmission cars.
- Z06 brakes and anti-roll bars are standard.
- Wide Z06 style body without carbon fibre.
- Springs and dampers unique to Grand Sport suit steel chassis car just 150 lb heavier than Z06.
- "The Grand Sport is considerably less tense and more compliant and stable than a Z06. It has a more mellow character like the ZR1. Turn-in is a little slower due to the extra mass and softer suspension but it's predictable. Better balanced than a Z06 when on the throttle - less skittish. An easy car to drive fast and hold slip angles. Lap times run dangerously close to the Z06."
- "Nearly $20,000 less than Z06 the Grand Sport is a screamingly good deal. Failing Chevrolet upgrading the Z06 with ZR1 parts I know which model I'd buy", says Road & Track.
