Breakdown cover?
Discussion
If you phone the AA and talk about "competitive quotes from other companies" a substantial discount is likely to be offered very quickly.
Alternatively it seems many car insurers have tie-ups with breakdown services and can offer a good price although typically restricted to the insured vehicle only (AA covers you as driver, not a specific car)

Breakdown cover is about to run out, Anyone know of a good deal at the mo? I am with the AA but i seem to recall the RAC doing an offer for CCCUK members?
25% off for CCCUK members. I have emailed you with the club code.Cheers
I'm sure I saw it in the magazine a couple of months back.
Our European breakdown cover with RAC was due for renewal. (In the wife's name) We have personal cover at the top level so whatever car we're in we're covered. Anyway, they wanted about £220 for her renewal. (Including her discount for never having had to call them out) Incidentally, AA were almost £300 for the same level of cover. So I transferred the cover to my name (as a new policy holder) and used the CCCUK discount. Strangely enough, it came down to under £160.(Didn't query their maths, obviously!!)
Paid for the CCCUK membership fee in one fell swoop!

There is mention of the RAC discount on the CCCUK website here:

When I renewed it a while back they gave us a club code. I'm not sure how essential it is, but naturally (in order to preserve the benefits to the CCCUK members) none of our discount codes are published publically. In any member is having difficulties, I suggest that they contact the Membership Secretary. (I'd be happy to help but I'm away for a few days)
