New website for UK Corvette parts....
Discussion
cadillaccorvettehummer.com not sure who this is? It has GM parts for Corvettes and Cadillac but wow check out the price for some of the service items like pads!! not sure if they are gold plated at the price they want!
I know the exchange rate between USD and the Euro and the Sterling but seems expensive. The hummer cool bag seems good value!

Yep, I'd advise Z06 owners sit down before reading the prices for official GM brake pads! Look about the same as the prices on the BM site, so wonder if they run it?I know the exchange rate between USD and the Euro and the Sterling but seems expensive. The hummer cool bag seems good value!

Surely you are not inferring that BM are expensive are you?!Edited by G4HKS on Monday 7th September 14:49
Reassuringly expensive, perhaps? I was looking at US parts prices recently (that wheel again...) Having been quoted £1,500 by BM, it was interesting to see the same part from a GM parts supplier in the US at $650, so even allowing for tax and shipping probably half the price of BM...
I cannot believe BM quoted you that figure, Surely? Do you mean for the boggo standard polished wheel on your C6? The cost of getting the wheel over from the States, including shipping duty and VAT would be around £650 max at today’s exchange including shipping, import duty and VAT.
Whilst I would expect to pay a little more than US prices they must have quoted you incorrectly. I retail a lot of US products and wouldn't sell one piece if I tried to mark up by more than 20-30% max AFTER shipping duty VAT etc, let alone 130%!. YIKES !! In other words if one of my customers tried to buy direct himself (or from a US dealer) he would find the difference probably wouldn't be worth the extra effort involved over what I would charge.
BM (I think) buy from the official distributor of GM for Europe, whoever they are right now. If the distributor are marking the kit up that much it's up to the dealers to badger the hell out of them to reduce their buy price. I have done for years in my game and it worked - we were losing too much business to the US suppliers (and rightly so) because of greedy UK distributors/factory price setting. I am pleased to say customers are a lot more wary now and won't tolerate it. Good on em! The price should be relatively level in main areas like US/EU. If not customers will just buy direct and who'd blame them? Not exactly difficult is it?
I'm sure Mitch will have a comment or two.

With the collapse of Kroymans parts supply has now reverted to another company based in Sweden who have initially adopted the pricing files used by Kroymans which were not cheap at the best of times. Buying wheels from the states is a mixed bag for us as they come with no GM warranty so they aren't covered if they pit or corrode. One of the reasons for the higher prices in Europe is that the parts distributor has to cover the cost of this warranty and other customer related costs. It's much more complicated than you'd expect.

But almost three times the cost Mitch? I can well imagine it's complicated of course and knowing how easily US wheels corrode I can imagine UK's GM wanting to cover their back. I guess they only have to offer 12 months warranty anyway in the USA, which is probably just about long enough before they start corroding....

As I said Martin it has nothing to do with GM U.K. When Kroymans were still in existence we used to see transmission prices that were nearly 4 times more expensive to us than if we sourced them from our suppliers in the U.S. The prices from the European distributor are sadly out of our control.
Standard GM C6 (Z06) chrome wheels seem to pit pretty much as soon as they get mildly moist but then all aftermarket chrome wheels do exactly the same unless you go to extraordinary lengths to keep them clean and dry.
I would avoid chrome wheels unless your car is only used during dry weather and kept in a climate controlled environment the rest of the time and you thoroughly clean the wheels after every journey.
The painted rims I replaced my chrome rims with seem to be holding up very well against a lot of use and a little care!
