I'm taking my newly acquired C5 around Europe next week, and have been told I don't need headlight beam deflectors because the standard lights are aimed dead centre. Anybody know if is this correct? Ta

Depends if it is a UK spec or US import......easiest way to tell is does it have a big old pair of red fog lights mounted in the rear below the normal lights? UK spec in that case and therefore UK spec lights I believe means beam deflectors required.
No fugly red rectangular lights means it's a US import and therefore it will not need the beam deflectors as it will have the up and down high beam /low beam lights......you will also discover that for once the steering wheel is on the correct side smile

surely it depends on how the headlights on the car are actually set up, rather than any theoretical spec based on where the car came from

you can check by parking towards a wall and switching them on!

And just to explain what the beam will look like ( on dipped) - if it kicks up to the left they're UK spec, if the bright bottom half is level then they're US. You can't really rely on the country of origin if it's a Yank and you didn't import it, you never know if one of the previous owner's made the common change to Euro spec lights.

Have a good trip!

My C5 is to European spec and is registered in Spain, but I still have to fit the lens stickers or change the headlights.

I was told that they were flat beam and would be fine, but they are not and are not legal for Europe as checked out by the ITV/MOT Station
