I've just bought a 2007 Victory Edition (unbelievably excited!) and heard from the dealer that you can get an MP3 adapter installed, but it's like a 'high powered iTrip' as there's no aux input for the stereo.

Has anyone done this upgrade and is it worth doing? Are there any other options?

Cheers

If you want an mp3 or ipod input in to the navigation unit on a UK car it is your only option.

Speak to Greg at Auto Audio in Park Royal who has done a few before. There is no way that you'd be able to tell the difference in a digital or RF based signal on the medicore bose speakers!

Where did you buy the car from?

Hope you enjoy the car!

I bought a device off of Ebay from the US that plugs into the XM unit and allows you to then plug in either an iPod or iPhone and use the buttons on the steering wheel to change tracks and the volume. This plays through the XM channel on my US spec Sat Nav on the 2008 C6 Z06 'cos I like you couldn't believe that they would design a 2008 car without an Aux!

Another victory buddy, I
have 08my, and the GM pal system will not work on euro spec cars because we don't have XM radio on our cars!! It a real shame iPods don't play if you have the sat nav! And all the aftermarket systems are never as good as a factory setup. But well done on your car. I have a pair or red LS2 engine covers for you car signed by tom wallace of GM if intrested pm me..

I also recently bought a 2007 Victory Edition and as JimexPL suggests, I went to Auto Audio in Park Royal. Cost £250 & works well; charges the iPod but only volume control on the steering wheels buttons. Auto Audio told me they use the same fix for Aston Martins.

Thanks for the advice there guys. Sounds like the transmitter is the only way to go - have used iTrips and the like before, and they've been OK, but can get a fair bit of interference. The guys at Stratstones said the place they recommended did it for £250, so CPK, sounds like it's Auto Audio that they're talking about there - I take it it's a relatively easy upgrade to get Auto Audio to do? A shame there's no aux for the sat nav. If you reckon that there's minimal loss of quality (even in London?) then I might drop the shop a line.

Oh well. Can't complain!! Still got a vette!! ;-) Got to wait 11 more days to pick it up though. Killing me waiting!!!!

Cheers

If you speak to Auto Audio they will collect the car from Park Lane and get it done before delivery (or Wavendon can drop the car direct to Auto Audio if it's up there). While they're at it a laser diffuser/front parking sensor unit is a worthwhile addition to a vette!

The unit that they use cuts out the radio aerials, so interferance in London tends not to be a problem (unlike an itrip...).
