Not sure about prices/demand for US spec - I believe the Europeans prefer Euro spec as it's already type-approved, etc.

It's stronger than prefer. Without a Certificate of conformity they rarely ever buy them.

Fog in English channel, Europe cut off!

You should have no problem selling the car in UK. The car would need conversion to UK lighting requirements in order to pass an SVA test before it can be registered. No certificate of conformity is needed (although it is required in other European countries). You could either get the car converted and SVA'd yourself or leave it for the buyer to sort out. However, in order to register the car the "owner" will need to be able to show proper proof of ownership to the DVLA, leading back to USA.

SVA for cars ended in April 2009, it has been replaced with IVA, this evolved and has been implimented under European harmonisation and not to be taken lightly. http://www.vosa.gov.uk/vosacorp/newsandevents/pres...

Yes indeed, albeit that for modern American cars like the Corvette there shouldn't be too much difference as the overall federal standards are seen as a big step towards acceptable safety standards in UK,

"Mass-Produced Vehicles from USA.....
"To prove compliance with the listed standards, these vehicles must be fitted with a Compliance plate which will contain the name of manufacturer, 17 digit VIN number, gross vehicle weights, and the following:
"For FMVSS. 'This vehicle conforms to all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in effect on the date of manufacture shown above'.

Loads of detail here in 261 pages of thrilling detail! http://www.transportoffice.gov.uk/crt/repository/I...

Ian Goss in Surbiton has put many American cars through the UK registration system and should be able to help you out. Tel 0208 391 9090

My point exactly if you catch my drift, I suspect he was only trying to take the pizz anyway

American Imports offered me 19k px on a new dodge charger 3 weeks ago, I would prefer a ZO6 to stick with the brand, but there are some cheep new cars out there now especial from the GM Group

I can’t spell & use spell checker in ms word all the time, I once wrote on an invoice to a manufacture, that the customer was getting impotent when I meant impatient.

Now that is funny! I bet you both had a good chuckle over that one. I think you're going to have to stick with a Vette Sam, you know you won't be happy until you're in a Z06..

Heh heh to the spelling problem. Once had a dodgy letter go out from a salesperson in a company I worked for. He was sliming the customer, and looked to "work closer together to build a stronger relationship".

Sadly, even after the spell checker on the secretary's desktop, and the sales guy proof reading it, the letter went to the customer swaying "work closer together to build a stranger relationship".
