I was at MotoGP Donington Park this weekend and a biker spotted my Z06.
He thought it was a ZR1, and began to recount a story where last Thursday 23rd he was somewhere around the M6 up norf when he encountered a black ZR1 on foregin plates while riding his GSXR 1000. Although he'd lost the ZR1 on the local roads through traffic, once he got onto the M6 he suddenly saw the ZR1 catch and pass him! Flat on the tank he wound his GSXR up to the rev limiter at 186mph and still couldn't catch the ZR1. When I told him they have 638bhp he understood why. Anyone know the black foreign ZR1 then?!

I had a similar experience whilst in France driving a new Alpina B10 4.6 V8 (unlimited of course!), many years ago.

Me and my Mrs had left a bunch of Chimaera's, Jags, 993's. etc in our group behind and saw in the distance two red Thunderace (not Thundercat) 1000CC Yamaha's. We caught one and over took him but his mate decided he wasn't having any of it, so he wound his bike up and got ahead. We over took him too with my wife holding a glass with water in it and an umbrella pretending it was a cocktail up at the window, waving. The poor bloke was flat on his tank doing about 150ish with no more left to go. We did have a chuckle....

I did print a photo of the speed off the dials, had it enlarged and sent it framed to Sytner where I bought the car. They stuck it in the Alpina section of their showroom but thought better of it and consigned it to the rear offices!

Check out speedo (and fuel consumption meter - I was lifting off the throttle at the time!) taken by my wife:

and from the outside:

Well remembered. So much for Yamaha's attempt at calling bikes names rather than numbers.
