Just got a euro spec C5 vert and it's not got a CD changer.I've had a quick look in the trunk and I can't find a cable to connect one to the head unit.
Do they default fit these at the factory and then fit a changer if it is requested or is the cable not fitted if not required ?
I want to find a changer but if it needs a cable as well it makes it a pain in the *rse.
If its already there has anybody got a changer ?

Where did you look? the changer goes on the back wall in the centre cubby hole. On the camaros they had the cable even though on the V6 in the UK the cd changer wasn't an official option.

No cable fitted.
You have to buy a cable to go from the passenger footwell
to the back.
Got my changer at the Nat's, with a cable smile

Dave.

The job is really easy - fitted one into my Z06 in under two hours and that included replacing the US radio with a European one. There is a block connector hidden in the passenger footwell fuse box. The new cable runs from this connector to the back of the car under the carpets with no need to remove any interior panels. I have the original brackets to secure the changer into the storage compartments but couldn't be bothered to fit them, so my changer is held in with Velcro!! (does the job, though)

Before parting with your hard-earned you may want to know that the standard C5 changer doesn't like playing "home made" CD-R as opposed to "factory pressed" CD recordings. Tends to have a lot of crackle and hiss with CD-Rs, much like playing an old knackered vinyl record. I gave up trying to play them years ago.

It took me quite a while to identify what the problem was as none of my other players have this difficulty.

Even the book 'C5 Performance Projects 1997-2004' says, "Note that the changer doesn't fully support CD-R".
