I'm guessing there's only one Nigel Dobbie in Gloucester! A TV star in our midst... smile

"Nigel Dobbie is an intelligence consultant from Gloucester. He picked his plate – BLO3 JOB - with the help of his girlfriend. Shortly after buying it, he received a call from the DVLA withdrawing the sale on the basis that it should have been on their banned list".

There's a pic in Nige's profile as linked to by Viper above.

So I see you are an XTC fan Gary: "We're only making plates for Nigel.." biggrin

Sadly I can't claim that one - it was a direct rip-off from Autocar's site!

"Ellena Wood lowers a documentary dipstick into the world of personalised car number plates. The bidders in these acts of consumer folly seem to be overwhelmingly male and seeking attention, status and the thrill of people pointing and staring st their cars. It's no surprise to learn that the current owner of N1GEL keeps his personalised Lamborghini in a Thunderbirds-style pop-up garage."

N111 GEL is on an old Mk III Golf GTI round here. It's only a question of degree.

Can't say that the reason I bought mine was for attention and can think of nothing worse than people pointing, don't consider it has any status and it was actually bought to make the car look neater and satisfy my OCD plus of course to personalise the car which is what personalised plates are for, no????

Did anyone see the programme then? I bet it was a sour-faced Daily Mail type piece.

As for N1GEL, as the prog says, it is on a Diablo which I saw at Supercar Sunday, not a Caterham.

I saw it and mostly featured the owner of N2GEL and the 'Supposed' number plate envy on the part of all Nigel’s wanting the N ONE GEL number plate. Bit of a laugh and have it on HHD if anyone is interested, best bit was the thunderbird garage where the ground lifts up to and out pops the Lambo, with enough strength to lift two cars sitting on the top of the raised area and the Lambo, just enough clearance for the lambo doors to open up. I was thinking if you rolled up at this chaps place half parked on his pop up garage it would be strong enough to flip your car over on its side. Neat idea for a garage anyway if you don’t have room for one next to your house. Our Nigel came up trumps had the best car anyway and the shirt to match.
