Just wondering if there is anywhere in the UK to rent a C6 - probably for about a week (but more is possible). Basically would like to try living with one for an extended time to see if I get on with it.

What are you worried about, specifically?

1. More power is better, no? Seriously, the C6 is a pussy cat and very easy to drive unless provoked

2. C6 is only marginally bigger than a 911

3. LHD is a doddle. Renting one for a week would probably put you off because it takes a few weeks to become totally accustomed to it.

4. The C6 is very comfortable indeed for a sports car.

Actually I was thinking of renting for a month. I find the test drives are usually not very good for letting me really understand a car, and decide if I am going to like it or not.

But it sounds like there isn't anyplace that will rent them in the UK. frown

For the amount it would cost you to rent a C6 for a month, you may as well just buy one; if you don't like it after 1 month, you could sell it on. What you'd lose in depreciation should be less than it would have cost you to rent one for the same amount of time.

If you're that unsure about it, it's probably best to stick with something a bit more mainstream?

Agreed!! You may aswell buy one and take the hit on depreciation if you don't like it, as opposed to the thousands of pounds it would cost to rent one for a month, if you could find one to rent!

I once broke down in the US on the way to a gathering at Bowling Green in my C4, and the Chevy dealer that repaired my car offered to rent me a C6. I suspect the daily rate was only a few times that of the Cobalt i took..... but they wanted a $40k payment on a credit card as security! Which would be refunded when i returned the car in the condition it went out in!

Ho ho - remember that - bet you're glad the Z06 doesn't have the benefit of Optispark!

I disagree with that. I never considered LHD in the UK, but wanted to test drive a Lancia Integrale back in 1989.

Within 10 minutes or so, I was completely accustomed to sitting on the left and positioning the car appropriately and have never looked back!
Since then, I've had 2 Integrales, a LHD F355 (which saved me about £30k back then) and of course, 2 Corvettes.

And swapping between LHD and RHD is no problem either.

Well, I'm talking from my own personal experience (as are you), so it's all subjective and will vary from person to person. The thing that took me longest to become accustomed to was my positioning within my lane and the acuity of my peripheral vision on the 'other side'.
