...which will only be surpassed in sadness the day The Beast is actually sold... frown

My dream would be to keep it and add the QM600 cam and ARE dry sump kit I had brought over, but alas, it was not to be.

If it doesn't sell with the Brembo and Penskes on it, I will change it back to stock and sell them separately, but I thought I would try an ad as it is for a short while first.

Never fear though, like Bond, I will return (eventually) in the Man In The ZR1...

Nope, not until they compete and then only if they spring major hospitality for me! wink

The Brembos were nearly £5k and the Penskes £3.5k.

Just waiting for a wealthy European buyer who wants to destroy GT3 RSs at the 'Ring! biggrin

Fingers crossed for you David, to be frank there isn't a lot of choice out there anyway and yours does have some desirable options fitted of course.

So no Mr Yu at Lemans? What ever next?

Well for starters, there's the imminent arrival of Mini-Yu 2 in July...

Are you going to Goodwood Breakfast Club on 7th June? They do excellent bacon sarnies...

Ahh yes! So there is, I forgot. Hope your Mrs is doing okay, I guess she is cursing the heat we've been having recently. Best wishes for you and your new arrival to be.

How is she getting on with her Abarth? Pleased?

Just checked the dates for Goodwood and you're right - it's the 7th of June. Thanks for telling me, would have had a wasted journey this Sunday!

"Supercar Sunday – the Ultimate Performance Machines’ Attracting: Mouth-watering (and mostly mid-engined!) ultimate performance cars and exotic superbikes, plus aerobatic aircraft - Sunday the June 2009".

You at the Fairmile tomorrow?

I think I might actually! One last blast in The Beast.

It's due to go in on Wednesday to be stripped back to stock, so if no offers by then, that's the plan. (I know, not giving it much time!)

Good luck with the sale David, I know from experience that money spent modifying does not increase the value, especially when it comes to Corvettes!
As you say it is probably more cost effective to put the car back to stock and try selling the upgrade parts.

Either way I hope you can get rid of it and buy yourself I nice new pram smile

I don't see a problem with it being sold. So long as he sees the light and purchases a ZR1 once the fling with the overweight Japanese is over.

I know Nigel, hence the rather last minute nature of my ad. It's been booked in to be turned back to stock for ages, but I suddenly thought it wouldn't hurt to see if there is a European buyer out there who wanted a car with my very expensive parts already on it.

James, whatever it sells for is going straight into the ZR1 fund...

Well I'll look forward to reading about the zr1 on autojournals. I'll never forget the first time I "saw" your car...it was in evo car of the year 06 and was the inspiration which led to a black z06 in my garage a year later!
Hope the micra gives you good service in the mean time! wink

Actually I can't slag too much....I used to own one of the uk middlehurst r34 gtr vspecs in bright yellow! Great car was bought by a neighbour of mine new and I bought it from him. Intend to get a spin in the new one soon to see what I think!

Best of luck with the sale!

It's always harder selling something you have modified. Not just the financial loss on the the cost of the modifications (which rarely add to the value) but also because of the work you put in to the project in the first place. Its not just vettes, my bikes go back to stock when sold. They sell easier and I get more for the parts that way.

Whatever happened to the Lingenfelter mods you had done to the engine? No mention of it in the add?

As I said, I know! I had to strip a lot of parts off Godzilla 1 when I sold it. I already have buyers for quite a few of my parts, I was just putting a speculative ad out to see if I could avoid the expense and hassle of doing the work.

Car is going in today to have the mods taken off, ad is coming down and will go back up when the car is stock.

One benefit of putting it back to stock is I can do a fair back-to-back comparison with my R35 GT-R.
With my suspension and brake mods on the Z06, there was never any doubt which one I preferred, and even in stock guise, I predict I will always find the Vette the more engaging and entertaining car...

Godzilla! - I'm sorry you are selling the Black Beast - The GTR is a fine motor but I just know you are going to miss the Z06 when you sell it - sure you'll be sadbyebye

I have to say big respect to you for what you have done with the Vette - surely the most famous Z06 in the land!

Much like 'Irish Boy' I too enjoyed reading the EVO articles about your car, and for sure these were instrumental in my taking the final plunge into Z06 ownership - GM should have paid you commissionlaugh

The fantastic and exciting thing about the Z06 is that the average owner can modify it in ways that offer genuine improvements over the standard fare - in the world of supercars that is a rare opportunity.

The standard car has great potential does indeed need modifying to enable it to realise that potential- the mods you have on the Beast are top class and surely of interest to those potential enthusiast purchasers who know about the Z06 and are intending to buy one and use it in the manner appropriate to it design.

So you fancy forced induction and the ZR1? - well if the z06 lingers in your stable as a consequence of these 'credit chunch' days and their effect on the market, you could always keep it, build the motor with some forged pistons , buy APS twin turbo kit - and do an easy 700bhp or even 1000bhp if you want!!
Thing is you will save yourself £50k into the bargin as well.

Good luck with the GTR and the sale of the Black Beast wink
