After several false starts finally picked up my C6 from Stratstones yesterday, battery replaced looking good.
Absolutely love the car, looks great, drives great, getting used to the left hand drive.
There seems to be conflicting views with regard to running in, from keep below 55 mph in hand book through don't bother to drive it hard.

Steering a middle path at present, limiting revs to around 3K not driving too long at one speed.Drove back on Motorway approx 120 miles 60 to 80 using 4th,5th and 6th to vary rpm, looked in hand book when I got home, noticed keep below 55 for first 500 miles.
Looking forward to trying it in anger, will after try a track day.

Stopped at a motorway services on the way back, fortunately noticed the rear number plate had slid down an was just hanging on the bumper. It has been fixed on with double sided tape?. managed to refasten it and its been o.k. since.
Is this the usual way of fixing the rear number plate?
I have found what appears to be some kind of numberplate bracket in the boot I need to look into this further, just wondered if anyone could advise me.
i am more interested in driving it and messing with all the setting options at present will have to try and resolve it over the weekend

I expect the number plate bracket is for the front. It's a legal requirement, but most owners choose to run without one.
Double sisded 3m tape is fine for number plates, as long as both surfaces are properly clean. We hardly ever screwed rear plates on and never had a problem with them falling off.
The running in notices do conflict slightly. Just take it easy for 500 miles then start giving the V8 something to think about!

Enjoy the car!

Running in. Lots of nonsense talked on this subject from time to time. IMO just avoid going bonkers for the first 1,000 miles or so.

The number plate falling off is a Stratstones Birmingham thing!! Martin had the same issue on his Z06, Don't screw any plates to the car! The front bracket is awful have a look in the states for something else, enjoy the Car.

Fantastic James, really pleased for you.

You will enjoy the hell out of it and as the posts above said just avoid thrashing it/keeping a constant speed or changing up to early and labouring the engine - that also does them damage as it does any new engine of course.

I've covered 1100 miles almost in mine now and will start increasing the revs until 2000 then watch the petrol guage start darting backwards quickly...!

Another Surrey member is having his black on black C6 delivered to him this week too. Just shows you how many buyers are actually out there when the price is "right".

So - where are the images?

I have a vinyl front plate i.e. it sticks directly to the front which I got from Viper Neil (Viper) on PH.

Just drop him an email and I am sure he will be able to sort you out with a front plate......whatever you do don't put one of those fugly great plastic things on the nose of your car!!!

P.S. This thread is useless without pictures smile

Just another point Steve - make sure the two small rubber bungs are taken out BEFORE you try and double side stick the rear number plate on. I made the same mistake and once I pulled them out the plate stuck on perfectly. (Thanks to Ian Goss for pointing that out)

Halfords do some 5 or 6mm high double sided foam pads and these are ideal to mount the rear plate.

You can see the size and style of my front plate on the image below. I get all my plates from No. 1 Show plates and have negotiated a CCCUK discount for us. They will make up a whole host of sizes and fonts, back grounds etc.

I used to use strong velcro to hold on the rear plate without any problem and it allows instant swop to show plates.

+1

Mine was ragged around Millbrook and the EVO test track with just 200 miles on it! Still runs perfect 30,000 miles later. Ask JimexPL which Z06 felt the best run in...cars that have been thrashed or ones that have been driven gently
