I blame Rob for this... Having started to think about a louder exhaust, I'm thinking there's no point getting a slightly louder system - it has to be a lot louder smile After some research, including rattling the speakers on my laptop with the help of YouTube, I've got a yearning for a B&B Fusion cat-back...in quiet mode I may make it out of my drive without incurring the wrath of my neighbours, and in loud mode I can make the world a better place!

Anybody fitted a Fusion to their (non-Z06) C6? Also, anybody know the best way of sourcing a system in the UK without breaking the bank? (Although at nearly $2K in the US I'm not expecting it to be cheap-cheap)

Ha!!!

I have a long long list of bits I am itching to press the "BUY NOW" button from Ecklers, one of which is the Borla Stinger 11's with X-Pipe. Same system I had on my C6 basically but I think the pipes are bigger for the Z06.

I had BB's on my C6 initially, but I really didn't like the way the tips were finished (they actually had traces of rust on them within a few months) plus generally the overall finish wasn't a patch on the Borla systems so I changed for the Stingers.

Whilst they were loud if you booted the car, they didn't drone at all inside the cabin and the pop and crackle on the over-run still gives me a smile. Chuck in forced air induction via a Callaway system and the whole install worked very well.

If you have any YouTube links that might persuade me otherwise (because I did certainly consider the Fusions) let me know.

Also, if you want to share the freight charges when I bring my truck load of bolt-on goodies in let me know both of you because it will be a lot cheaper if it is all lumped together.

Here is the tips of the BB's (Route 66's):

And these are the Borla Stinger 11's:

I bought one of these for my C6 Z06 and it ain't subtle.....in fact it is best described as LOUD!

http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dynd...

They also do a non-Z06 version

http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~dynd...

Excellent quality and simple to fit once you get your head around the idea of having to cut off your standard rear mufflers! It is impossible to remove the standard rear boxes apparently without taking the car to pieces and therefore an angle grinder is required.....I also removed the heat shield plate that sits above the rear mufflers as it was buzzing on one of the new pipes.

Anyone needing a listen tomorrow don't be shy.

Martin, interesting to hear about the rust...and the fact that the Stingers don't drone... Haven't seen anything about rust on the US forums, but it may be that they don't get their cars wet smile

Here's an interesting thread on the Fusions on the US forum which includes some sound-bites: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-corvette-genera...

Can't seem to find the YouTube links today (must be the rain) but I'll keep digging.

When are you thinking of getting your stuff shipped over?

Hi Gary

Well I just did a deal with RaceMesh for a complete set of polished stainless grills for my car in the past hour and should have the set within 30 days.

The Rest of the stuff (including the exhausts) I should think before end of this month. Checking out prices between Ecklers and ZIP (Who I usually use), Zip are far cheaper. $1829USD from Ecklers for the Stingers with X-pipe and $1649USD from Zip. So it looks like Zip will have my money for now.

This one line on the forum you referred was enough to put me off the Fusions:

"Has some burble on decel, I don’t hear any popping. I'd prefer more popping and burble, but the sound is great".

You won't have that problem with the Borla Stinger 11's - they pop and crackle even on mild "decel"..!

Give me a bell if you want me to add to my order.

Martin, been doing a bit more research (well, it's raining!) and as far as I can tell an x-pipe will smooth things out and maybe give a fraction more power...but also reduces burble and pop! Just a thought as you're a fan of burble-and-pop. Did you have the x-pipe on your C6 with the Stingers?

Yes I did - and I am sure that is what helped with the whole set up working and sounding so nice. My previous BB Route 66 instal didn't have the X-pipe.

Hi Nige, no - they are due 30 days after payment which was about 3 weeks ago from memory. I will email you images (or stick them up on here probably!) when they are all fitted.

Got the Stingers X pipe and forced induction on though... Plus replaced the rear spoiler with the ZR1 type.

Reason I asked was I just paid the shipping on my set so they should be with me shortly I hope.....so looks like there will be a race to see who can get them fitted first and post the pictures!! smile

Okay - well I paid the lot including shipping up front so who knows. They do look great though don't they? Just hope they look as good as the images.

Grilles all fitted smile

Front and Rear brake duct grilles require wheel removal and access panel off for the fronts and complete inner wheel arch liner off for the rears.

Gutted for you mate, hope they get here before the Nats......the Revision I have is the last one you gave me.....I would nip out to the car and get the disk out only it is currently peeing it down here.....which is going to delay the cleaning the car for Le Mans day frown

Yes I agree but seeing how slow the guy is to respond I won't hold my breath. The Rev. I have got for you is V5.0 - 2008 so far more up to date than the last one you have. It took an hour to cook too!
