someone called 'the caddy daddy'is selling it. I wonder who that could be... scratchchin

Joking aside, it is a worthwhile upgrade to the silent standard C6 exhaust.

What's the noise like compared with the standard system? Thinking of at idle, pottering at low speed and (of course!) WOT. And does it really not drone? Also, how does it compare with the 3rd party aftermarket exhausts? (which everyone seems to talk about on the US forums - nobody ever seems to mention the GM system)

Purely out of idle curiosity of course...even if it is my birthday soon smile

Vet Guru is the man to ask! From memory, the GM system is made under licence from either Corsa or Borla (their touring system??).
I've only done about 20 miles in the centre of London wit the sytem on (including the optional x-pipe), so can't really comment.

James is right the system is a GM part made by Borla the good thing is it's an offical part so no warranty issues and it's the only one that you can change the tips on! In case you get bored, I wanted a system that had no drone around town driving and you could hear yourself think inside the car. The system has improved BHP and more grunt when you hit the gas! Also as it's an offical GM product Insurance compnaies have no issue. Bauer-millet wanted almost 2k for the system with todays exchange rate. Can be fitted at Ian Goss services Surbiton Surrey as he was the chap who fitted the exhaust on my C6 and also took the exhaust off for me. It's a great system and the only one to work with manual or auto Corvettes. cool

Thanks Rob. I may have to stick my hand down the back of the sofa and see if I can find some pennies! The price of parts over here never ceases to amaze me - BM charging nearly £2K when the US parts suppliers seem to charge around $1.2K. Still I guess a chunk of that is taxes and the fact you can't just stick big parts in an envelope and slap on a second-class stamp!

The problem is the parts are sold in USD to Kroymans Europe and exchanged into Euros then into Pounds sterling that's why Parts are so expensive from main dealers in the UK. This is the same with Stratstones parts Dept as well.

For those who've switch to a non-standard exhaust... How much (if at all) has it increased your insurance costs?

Most of the Insurance companies I talked did not charge anymore as this was a Factory part, but a Borka or Corsa was 10% more on Insurance.

It depends how understanding your insurance company is. Mine charged me zero. But then again I didn't pay any extra from going from a C6 to a new Z06. (There are benefits in being an old git...)

After asking a few other members most only pay 10% more Insurance for a mod on their car like the Exhaust.

Ho hum. Just checked with my insurer and they'd want 20% more + bigger XS if it was "just a stainless-steel exhaust and didn't increase performance", or 30% more + even bigger XS if it adds any power up to 10% more. Not a huge amount in absolute terms (a couple of tank-fulls of unleaded) but more than I'd hoped for. Interestingly, they don't distinguish between manufacturer and 3rd party systems, other than "if it's just a like-for-like swap then you don't need to notify us"...

If only GM didn't call it the "performance" exhaust system when the general reckoning in the US is that it (like most cat-backs) adds negligible power.

I had the same issue with my insurance I have told them it's a GM factory approved system that makes it a bit more loud, and it's approved system with no horsepower increase as it does not state Hp in any information. Also it's called a genuine Corvette Accessories exhaust not a GM performance! You need to have another chat Adrian Flux and Mce have been fine.
